"Jesus, slow down!" Steve shouted from the back of the cart as Dustin sped through the Russian base, the alarm blaring.
"Dustin, whatever you do, don't slow down!" Wren cried, holding on tight and casting periodic glances over her shoulder to make sure no one was after them.
"What is this, like, the Indy 500?" Robin slurred.
"It's the Indy 300," Steve corrected.
"No, dingus, it's 500!"
"It's 300!"
"Let's say . . . a million," Robin said, and they both bursted into laughter.
"What the hell is wrong with them?" Wren frowned.
"I don't know," Dustin replied. He stepped on the break when they reached the elevator, the cart crashing into metal barrels. Steve and Robin both groaned from the impact. "You guys alright back there?"
Another groan. Wren and Dustin exchanged a glance.
"Th-They're fine," Wren said, not entirely believing it. They got out and opened the door. The older teens were laying with their backs against the wall, looking as if they were completely wasted.
"Come on." Dustin motioned for them to get out. "We gotta go, now."
"That means get up, do you want to get us all killed?!" Wren snapped when they just continued to lie there.
"Let's go!" Dustin clapped his hands together.
Wren grabbed Robin's ankle and pulled her forward until she could reach her arm. She yanked her the rest of the way out whilst Dustin did the same with Steve. She inserted the keycard, and they got into the elevator. Dustin pushed the button, and they were on their way up to freedom.
Wren and Dustin watched with deep frowns as Steve pretended to surf on a red trolley. "They seem drunk."
"Why would they be drunk?" Dustin asked.
Robin pulled the trolley out from under Steve, laughing hysterically as he crashed onto the floor. "Wipeout!"
Dustin went over to Steve and pressed his hand to his forehead. "He's burning up."
"You're burning up," Steve countered.
Dustin used his thumbs to open up Steve's good eye – he had gotten the shit beaten out of him by a Russian. He looked at Wren, who had gone over to check on Robin. "His pupils are super dilated."
"So are Robin's," Wren replied. "I think they might be drugged."
Dustin patted the side of Steve's face. "Steve, are you drugged?"
"How many times Dad? I don't do drugs. It's only marijuana." Steve tapped Dustin's nose.
"This isn't funny, okay? Wren and I need to know what they did to you and Robin."
"You know, besides beat the crap out of you," Wren added. She frowned when Robin hugged her shoulders and held her close like she was a teddy bear. "Rob— Robby, let go." She tried to wiggle free, but Robin just held her tighter.
"You're so cute, Wrenlee," Robin said with a small pout as she threaded her fingers through her hair. "Just a sweet, sweet little bird. The sweetest."
"Robin Buckley, this seriously isn't funny! Let me go, right now."
Robin groaned in disappointment, but she let go nonetheless. Wren stood up and went over to Steve and Dustin.
"You better not die on us, Steven." Wren crossed her arms as she stared down at him.
