"I DON'T NEED YOUR HELP." MATT murmured, just loud enough for jules to hear through the small crack in the door. she glanced at his eyes, darkened by the lack of light on his face, realizing the words that had just left his mouth.
at that moment, those words crushed jules heart into a million pieces. what did he mean by them? he couldn't possibly mean them... how could he not need her help? the two had been dependent on each other for what felt like forever now, how could he switch up this quickly? was it something she did? the look on his face said that he was shocked by his own words too.
she wasn't taking that for an answer, though. figuring out what was going on with him was her first priority and she needed to make sure that he understood that. "matt, c'mon. just let me in. we have to talk, alright?" she was really trying, and all she wanted now was to get him to agree to this. she had to know what was wrong. especially when it made him say something so outlandish like that.
"i don't want to talk right now." he said it like it was forbidden.
"okay... do you just want me to come back?" she understood that he could be not in the right mood to talk, but she knew he'd let her come back when he was ready. at least, that's what she thought.
