Jude and I had been dating for almost nine months now, and everything seemed perfect. Jude was sweet, attentive, and always knew how to make me laugh. Yet, there was a nagging doubt in the back of my mind that I couldn't shake off.
Despite all the wonderful moments we shared, Jude had never said those three little words that I longed to hear: "I love you."
My friends had reassured me countless times that actions speak louder than words, but I just couldn't help but feel insecure. Did Jude truly love me, or was he just comfortable in our relationship?
But now Jude has a game and of course I'm there. I'm always there when he has a game. My friend Sky was kind enough to accompany me. Now it's half time and I can't get this thought out of my head.
'Does he really love me?'
'Is this all an act?'
'What if he's not really interested in me?'
'What if he only feels comfortable in our relationship?'
These thoughts wouldn't leave me alone. I was so deep in my thoughts that I barely heard someone calling my name.
"Y/n! Did you hear me?"
"W-what?"
"Did you just listen to me?"
"No, I'm sorry. What did you just say?"
"I asked if I should buy the white or the black Dior bag?"
"Um, I think the black one would look better."
"Thanks! But what's wrong with you these days? You're so lost in your thoughts."
"Oh, um, it's just the thing with Jude, you know? I just can't get these thoughts out of my head."
"So you really think he doesn't love you?"
"I don't know what to think. What if he's only with me because he's just comfortable in the relationship and doesn't really love me."
"Y/n, believe me when I tell you that he loves you. I always see how he looks at you and how he treats you and you can tell that he loves you and only has eyes for you. Don't worry, sweetie. He'll definitely tell you."
Jude's Team won in the end. After the game, the stadium slowly emptied out, and Sky and I made our way to the parking lot. Just as we reached the entry, I heard a familiar voice behind me.
"Y/N, wait up!"
I turned to see Jude jogging towards me, a slight smile on his face.
"Hey, you were amazing out there."
I said, trying to sound cheerful.
"Thanks but uhm can we talk for a minute?"
"Yeah, of course."
I turned around and gave Sky a signal that I will be right back. We walked a little way from the parking lot, finding a quiet spot under the stadium lights. Jude turned to face me, taking my hands in his.
"I heard what you were saying to Sky earlier."
"Wait, what? How?"
"Well, it was half-time and I wanted to see you. Therefore, I looked for you and when I found you I heard what you were saying. I'm sorry that I eavesdropped but I couldn't ignore it."
"Oh no, it's okey."
"Do you really think that I don't love you?"
"I don't know Jude. You never said it."
"Baby, I thought you knew how I felt about you. I care about you so much."
"But you've never said it Jude. And it makes me wonder if you really do."
Jude's expression softened, and he gently wiped away a tear that had escaped down my cheek.
"I didn't realize how much those words meant to you. I've always believed that actions speak louder than words, but I see now that I've been unfair to you."
He took a deep breath, his eyes locking with mine. Oh my god. Is he going to say it?
"Y/N, I love you. I love you more than words can express. I guess I was just scared of saying it too soon and ruining what we have."
My heart soared at his confession, and I felt a wave of relief wash over me. He really said it. IT'S OFFICIAL!
"I love you too, Jude."
Jude then pulled me into a tight embrace, kissing the top of my head. How sweet.
"I'm sorry for making you doubt my feelings. I promise to be more open about how much you mean to me."
and i love you 😽❤️
