We were now at the repast as the funeral ended.I was ready for this day to be over.Me and my grandmother hadn't seen some of these people in years and they come around just to see her go in the dirt.And the few that did come around only wanted money.
Even though me and my mom had that talk I still lost the only person that truly knew me besides the love of my life.And to be honest I really needed her in this moment.I would call her but I feel like she'd be better of without me. In a way I find myself feeling hypocritical because my mom said the same thing about me.
But it's different right?
I was brought out of my thoughts by walking into the church's unisex restroom to see a woman changing a baby.
"Vic?"I said surprised noticing her as she turned around.
"Y/n!"She said as we hugged.
"I'm so sorry for what happened to mama holly. I know how I'm feeling so I can only imagine what you feel like right now if you need anything please call me."She said as she hugged me again and I caught a glance at the baby.
"Thank you Vic for real. And Ian know you had a son too...Where's Hazel?"I said playing with him as he giggled spitting and spinning.
"I don't...She's with her dad."She said slowly.
"Monèt I know you ain't out here kidnapping kids? Who baby is this?" I said as she hit me as I laughed.I missed this we used to play like this all the time before I pushed everybody away.

"Vic I'm so sorry I-
My heart skipped a beat as I watched Normani walk through the door stopping in her track when she saw me.I started to put two and two together as she rushed and grabbed the baby as I lightly grabbed her arm.
"Normani please..."I said softly as she looked me in my eyes sadly. _________
"You kept the baby?"I said as we were in my car on the way to my house because I definitely didn't want to have this conversation at the church.
"Yeah..."She said looking out the window.
"What's his name?"I say looking at him sleeping through the rear view mirror.
"Jovon Kordel Thorpe."She said as I looked at her gratefully.
"You named him after my mother?"I asked as she nodded.
"I know your true feelings behind the situation so I thought it would give you closure in a way so I gave him a name with meaning plus your grandmother gave the idea."She said as I looked at her confused and in shock.
"My grandmother knew?"I asked as she nodded again.
"She was the reason I kept him and I'm glad I did looking back now even though he's only been here 6 months I don't know what'd I do without my baby.She also told me that you just didn't want to be like your parents and that it was hard for you to grasp the fact that we're going to be one.She told me we'd come back to one another when we needed each other the most."She said as I looked at her lovingly as we pulled up to my house.
"Did she meet him?"I asked
"Of course she wouldn't let me go a day without her checking on me and him. She was there every step of the way."She said as I smiled sadly.
"Thank you mani."I said as a cheer rolled down my cheek and she wiped it.
"Don't cry."She said as we got out and I walked over to her side opening the door as she stood up hugging me.
"I'm sorry mani."I said as she held me.
"I know...I'm still here."She said into my ear as she let go kissing me softly on the lips opening the back door.
"Mani go in the house I got him."I said as she turned around biting her lip nodding.
"I'm not used to it my bad."She said. Holding her hands up in a don't shoot position as I got him and his diaper bag and we walked upstairs to my room.
"I'm serious though mani I'm so thankful for you I really don't know what I'd do without you. For me to say the things that I did and you to still be here for and with me is a blessing I never knew I was capable of possessing and for you I'm grateful and I do apologize but I know words are only words so I will show you with my actions that I'm serious I messed up but I won't lose you again I can't and I want to be in my sons life...I've already missed enough."I said Grabbing her hands while looking her in the eyes.
"I love you mani."I said as she smiled.
"I love you more y/n"She said as we took our outside clothes off before getting in the bed and taking Jovon out of the car seat as he woke up. I payed him on my chest as he was still halfway sleep.
"Hey baby boy..."I said kissing his forehead as normani laid her head on my shoulder.
I had a family now.

"Y/n! I brought you back some food!"I heard my mom yell as she walked into the house and we were in the living room. I got up as I went to grab the bags knowing everybody gave my mama all kinds of dishes.
"Thank you."She said as I grabbed them and put them on the kitchen counter.
"How you feeling?"She said as I helped put the food up.
"Better now."I said as she looked at me questioningly.
"Did I miss something?"She said looking at me weirdly as I laughed.
"You know what I was telling you about how I lost the love of my life and everything?"I said keeping It short as she crossed her arms still confused.
"Yea?"She said
"Come on."I said putting the last dish in the fridge before motioning her to follow me.
"Ma this is normani Mani this is my mother Megan."I said introducing them as normani got up to hug her.
"You're beautiful...I've heard nothing but good things about you and I know they're all true now."My mama said as Normani smiled.
"Thank you Ms.Pete. You're more than gorgeous."Normani said as my mother smiled glancing at my son as I picked him up.
"And who is this?"She said immediately taking him out my arms playing with him.
"He's so handsome.Oh my god."My mom said gushing over my son as I grabbing Normani waist pulling her towards me.
"This is your grandson... Jovon."I said as she visibly looked shocked getting excited.
"Y'all for real?"She said as we nodded as she looked at him.
"Awnnn y/n...."She said as she started crying happy tears and we hugged her.
"Say gma why you crying?"I said to Jovon as he laughed.
"Awnnn look at his smile he is so cute y'all cannot her him back tonight."She said as she grabbed his blanket .
"Dang mama ."I said as normani hit me and we chuckled.
