I woke up at around 5:45 to help everyone set up for Belly's birthday dinner. I showered, got dressed, did my hair and makeup and walked downstairs. "Good morning," I told everyone as I walked into the kitchen where everybody was already setting up. Laurel and Steven were baking Belly's traditional Mickey Mouse pancakes, My mom was blowing up balloons while Susannah hung them up. The Fisher boys were putting up a happy birthday banner while Gabe helped by cutting the pieces of tape for them. "How can I help?" I asked "Oh honey can you set up the silverware and plates for breakfast" Susannah asked "Yeah, of course" I told her as I grabbed the plates and silverware to set them on the table. We always had a beach theme for Belly's birthday so there was a lot of blue and sandy colors along with seashells and glitter. It was the same every year and I loved that it never changed. My birthday was in two days and I was very excited since I'd be turning 18. But as excited as I was, today was Belly's birthday and I couldn't be more excited for her. She's like my little sister and I love her even more. "So are you bringing Nicole?" I hear Jeremiah asking his brother. I immediately freeze at the mention of her name and it seems my heart did so as well as it skipped a beat. Not only did we get into a pretty bad argument last night, but now I'm going to have to watch him be all lovey-dovey with Nicole. There was nothing wrong with Nicole, she was actually a really sweet girl and maybe we could've been friends, she just loves the same boy I've loved forever. And even worse, he loves her back. "Yeah, I think she's coming by," Conrad answers. Steven looks at me because he knows how heavy my feelings are for Conrad. I still haven't gotten a chance to talk to him now that I think about it. He's been busy with Shayla and his job, not that I blame him in any way. As I finished setting the table, I got a message.
Ash 🩶: morning beautiful
I smile at my phone "Who are you smiling at" Jeremiah asks teasingly, "Um..Asher" I say with an awkward smile. And as I say that Conrad looks up at me. I can't read his eyes though, not like I used to be able to. "Oh yeah how was your date Jo," My mom asks. At first I'm in shock that she even acknowledges my presence because it seemed she forgot she had a daughter as of late. "It was really good actually, I like him a lot," I say with a shy smile. "Aw someone's got a boyfriend," Jere and Steven tease me as Gabe just laughs at the idea. I laugh at them trying to bother me. Conrad walks off and seems pissed. So far I think I'm winning this game he started.

"Hey guys," Belly greets with a wide smile. She's wearing a beautiful dress and light makeup, she definitely has that birthday glow. "Happy birthday Belly button!!" I say hugging her, being the first to greet her. Everyone else greets her, "You're Mickey Mouse pancakes are ready for you," her mom tells her "Actually I'm not that hungry," she answers "Oh," Laure says confused. I was a little confused too. "Shall we open presents?" Susannah says bringing the mood back up.
We were now in the living room. Belly in the big chair, the moms on the couch next to Belly, me on the other couch next to Belly, Conrad on the seat across from Belly and the other boys on the floor. "Ok me first," I say excitedly. I got her a dress she's had her eye on for a while, along with a charm bracelet from Pandora with a starter charm with the number 16 on it. "Omg Jo It's perfect," She exclaims and we hug. "Do you like it?" I ask her already knowing she loves it. I consider myself an expert gift giver and if anyone were to disagree, they're wrong. "Are you kidding, I love it. Thanks, Jo," she says smiling and hugs me "Of course Belly button," I tell her returning the smile. Everyone else gives her their gifts. Her mom got her a book with a poem we all know by heart. Susannah gave her some pearls her mother gave her when she turned sixteen and my mom got her tickets to go see her favorite band. Steven got her a Princeton hoodie, Conrad got her a perfume she had been wanting, Jeremiah got her a good luck charm for her bracelet (piggybacking off my idea) and Gabe made her a painting of the two of them along with her favorite candy. What a little sweetheart. "Thank you guys so much," Belly told everyone after receiving all her gifts. "Wanna get a little practice driving before we go pick up Taylor?" Jeremiah asked Belly "Yeah let's go." she answered excitedly "Wanna come Jo," she asked as she got up "Yeah sure," I told her and we left for the car. As I walked out I could feel Conrad's eyes on me. We should probably just talk this out, but he had really hurt me last night and I for some reason wanted to hurt him back. We were in the car, Belly driving - albeit not very well - me in the passenger seat, and Jere in the back. I was singing to, 'Better Than Revenge' by Taylor Swift while keeping an eye on the road and Belly at all times, making sure she won't kill us in a wreck.
"So Bells are you excited for Taytay to come over?" Jere asked peeking his head out the middle "Yeah," she said not very convincingly. "You sure," I ask with a chuckle "Yeah, I mean of course I am. But you know how Taylor is, she's like a hurricane," she says "Oh yeah hurricane Taylor," Jere says going along with what Belly is saying "It's just always like shes the main character, and I'm usually fine with that excep–" she gets cut off by Jere "but it's your birthday. And you're the main character Bells, not her," she just nods her head in unsure agreement "Yeah, and sure it's not coming from a bad place, I mean Taylor loves you Bells." I tell her "Almost as much as I do," I say with a giggle as I 'boop' her nose. We're both giggling, "Bells watch it!" I yell out as she tries not to hit a really big pothole and swerves on the road almost hitting another car coming the opposite direction. "Yeah we're gonna need a part two on this driving lesson," Jere says laughing. Belly and I start laughing too, "And a part three and four," Belly says as she keeps on driving to the bus stop.
