We were finally a block away. The rest of the ride consisted of my mom driving, bopping her head every now and then, Gabe sleeping in the backseat, and me in the passenger seat blasting my summer playlist and screaming at the top of my lungs, almost forgetting my little brother was knocked out right behind me. It was almost impossible to contain my excitement. It was finally summer and I was finally in Cousins again. No more stressing over school, no more parents constant arguing, no more being the grown-up. I'm a kid, and this summer I'm going to enjoy it, especially after all the shit that's been happening. As soon as the car stopped moving I leapt out, closed my eyes, and took a deep breath in. The salt air entering my noes, the wind blowing in my hair, and the sun shining over my skin. This must be what heaven feels like. For me, there is no better place than cousins, it's a magical place with magical people. I'm snapped out of my daze when I hear two beeps coming from a car horn. I open my eyes and see the Conklin's pulling in the driveway. I smile as I walk up to them at their car. "What happened to being here before us?" I teasingly asked Steven who was getting out of the driver's seat. "We would've if belly's fatass didn't want to stop at the gas station for snacks," he answered with an eye roll. "Shut up Steven" Belly retorted to Steven's comment as she was getting out of the passenger side. I giggled at their bickering. I missed them as if I hadn't just seen them last week on the last day of school. "Hey, buddy!" I hear. I turned and saw Gabe getting out of the car and going to greet Steven with just as much enthusiasm. While everyone is saying hi to each other, I see one of the fisher boys come out the front door. Its Jeremiah. "Jere!" I exclaimed as I ran over to hug him. He met me halfway and we ended in a hug. Jere was like another brother to me, he was always there and always knew what to say to make someone laugh. I talked to him a lot over text but I was so happy to finally be with him. "Hey Jojo" he laughed, I cringed at the nickname I was dubbed by him at the ripe age of 6. "Hey Jere bear, how you been," I asked him trying to catch up "I'm doing good, Im so ready for this summer" he told me "Me too" I agreed "I need this break." I continued, he nodded knowing what I meant by that. We were interrupted by Gabe coming over to say hello to Jeremiah. That's when I saw it. Saw him. It felt as if time had stopped. We held eye contact as he walked over to us. To me. I'm pretty sure I looked like an idiot the way I was smiling at just the sight of him. Is it possible for him to have gotten even more attractive since last summer? Of course it is, he's Conrad. He's perfect. He stopped a couple inches away from me. "What's up short stack," he asked with a sly smirk on his face "I'm not short, you're just a giant" I answered with a playful eye roll. He laughed and hugged me and I hugged back. This felt right, it was comfortable. As if we both needed it, I know I did.

The moms went inside, Gabe following suit. It was just us teens still in the driveway catching up with each other. "I don't know about you guys but I think it's time for a..." Conrad called out to us "BELLY FLOP!!" the boys finished the thought. Belly was running trying to get out of the grasp of the boys trying to dump her in the water. I stood there helplessly not wanting to also get thrown in the water. Soon enough, Jeremiah picked belly up and tossed her into the pool. We all laughed at the bit we've had going on since we were kids. "Ow! Guys I think I twisted my ankle" belly cried out as she came up from under the water. We all exchanged worried glances. Jeremiah went to help her out when all of a sudden he gets pulled into the water along with Belly. We all laughed at her get back. This is just the beginning of a perfect summer.
