Chapter 10

Hayley's eye caught a figure standing in the doorway.
"She's sleeping." She said.
Ash arched his eyebrow. He walked in without sparing her a glance.
Hayley sigh.
"Why are you still here?" Ash asked.
Hayley thought his question was quite amusing since he was the one who prevented her from leaving.
"Am I free to leave then?"
Ash glared at her while not responding to her question.
"You will stay at the pack house. I've already instructed them to get a room ready for you."

"Oh, how nice of you. I thought I was going to sleep outside in a dog house."

Ash's felt his veins popping in his neck. He clenched his fists at his sides.

Hayley felt quite pleased with herself when she noticed his anger.

Ash glared at her. If someone else had said those words, he would long have ripped their throats out. But here he was standing rooted to the same spot.

"Watch yourself there seeker."

"Oh, come on. It's just a joke." She lightly shook her head as she laughed inwardly. " I promised her I would stay. Keep your room I'll sleep here." Hayley shifted down in her chair to get more comfortable and closed her eyes.

"A little advice. Keep your snappy comment to yourself next time, or it just might get you killed."

"Yeah well. Join the list."

Ash stared at her. Wondering what her words meant. Were there others after her that wanted her dead? What is she doing in his territory?' He thought to himself.

The room fell quiet with no one saying another word. As he stood by the side, Ash's mindlinked Tobia's to keep guard and watch over his sister and Hayley. He still had a lot to deal with in his office, and since his sister was okay, he felt a sense of relief. He took a last glance at Hayley before walking out.

A few days passed quickly. After doing his investigation, he found nothing suspicious. Ash could not find another reason to keep Hayley from leaving. He could not ignore the tug in his heart every time he thought of her leaving his pack.

Hayley stayed with Daciana until she was released from the hospital and then moved into the room Ash prepared for her at the pack house. She didn't look out of place or intimidated by the other pack members, on the contrary. She quickly got along with them and looked like she was one with the pack. Ash did not know if it was because of his sister or just his pack member's wrong judge of character. He tried avoiding meeting her but still kept her in the corner of his eyes. They never met or spoke again after he left the hospital. Hayley also did not ask to leave again.

Hayley woke up and shook her head helplessly at the girl sleeping next to her with her mouth open and drool oozing out on the pillow. Daciana was stuck to Hayley's side since she was released from the hospital. Yes, she even refuses to leave Hayley's room and calls it a girl sleepover.

Hayley threw the covers off and got out of bed. She walked to the bathroom and quickly freshened up.
When she came out Daciana was still sleeping. Feeling a bit hungry, Hayley left the room and went straight to the kitchen, looking to whip something up to ease her hunger. As she walked down the stairs, she kept thinking about Ash. She hasn't seen him ever since the last time in the Hospital. When she caught herself thinking about him again, she quickly shook her head, trying to rid herself of her thoughts. As she turned the corner of the kitchen, her head suddenly hit something hard.
"OW," She complained as she rubbed her forehead.
"Seeker. Getting too comfortable, I see. Looks like you are not so vigilant anymore."
Hayley looked up and met his eyes. For a second, she momentarily forgot to breathe. This was the first time they were this close.
Ash smirked at her reaction. He tilted his head waiting to see what she would do next. He did not know the reason, but he quite missed her snarky comments. When he caught himself thinking of it, he quickly recollected himself and moved back while his gaze still lingered on her.

"Uhm, you should watch where you are going." With that said, he turned and walked to his office.
