the stranger

we're sitting in the room with the food, and table in it. "thank god for the flame" gabriel says sitting down. i look at him as he eats. 

"doubt they be serve us saji bowls in jail"

i look back at my hands facing the door, "how can you eat right now?" octavia asks. "he can always eat" echo says. i roll my eyes,

"Gabriel's right. if they didn't believe julia had the flame, we'd be in cells" clarke stands up and walks towards the door. "where are you going?" octavia asks. "to wake the others" she says, i look at her. "it's time to go back to sanctum"

"clarke, we're on house arrest" gabriel states. "i'm aware of that. i'm also aware that our leverage disappears the moment he puts julia in front of that stone" 

"so what are you gonna do?" echo asks. i stand up, "i'm gonna offer to do it" i look at clarke, then turn my body to the rest of the group. "as soon all of you are safe back in sanctum"

"julia, they'll kill you" octavia says standing up. "you are not sacrificing yourself for us" echo states. "i'm not. if i die, i'll be with bellamy"

the door opens and i turn around. "make way for the shepard" a man walks in followed by guards and cadogan. "we need to talk. i'm ready to help you, but only after my friends are-" he turns to the door and i see bellamy. 

my eyes widen. he's alive. "bell?" he smiles slightly. octavia goes to run to him but they stop her. i stare at him. "how?" echo mumbles, "we saw you die"

"it's hard to keep the blakes down" i walk closer to him and wrap my arms around his neck. i feel tears in my eyes as i smile. "i thought i lost you" i mumble, 

he hugs me back. "she has the key" cadogan says. "the key is the flame, they think it's in my head. say nothing" i whisper. i pull away and smile. i touch his bearded face. "i hope that now you're ready to help us, julia. too much blood has been spilled. each death, is a child of earth who won't transcend. i'll give you time to reunite while we make preparations" i look at him and nod before looking back at bellamy, cadogan goes to leave the room as i look at bellamy, "my shepard" bellamy says. my smile starts fading as he turns, "there's something you should know. julia doesn't have the key"

i stare at him. "the flame was destroyed. i'm sorry"

what the fuck. why would he do that?

i rub my face, clarke and octavia are talking, i've blocked them out as i keep trying to think of why bellamy betrayed us. 

the door of cell opens and bellamy walks through. i stand up and stare at him. then behind him at the guards, "you seriously need backup to talk to us now?" i ask sarcastically. he looks at them, "it's ok" they walk out and the door closes. "it's about time. i have been racking my brain, trying to figure out how you telling cadogan about the flame helps us? you know what i've come up with. it doesn't" clarke says. 

"i couldn't lie to him" i'm staring at the man that i love. not knowing who he is anymore, i'm speechless. "really? why not?" octavia asks. 

"i had an experience something that changed me to my core. something that explains why we're still here, and where we're going. it came to me in a vision. and mom was there. the shepard led me to her, there was a light it was beautiful. warm, peaceful. and i chose it. and when i opened my eyes the storm had pass. just like that. the storm had passed just like that" i stare at him walking closer to him. "bellamy-"

"julia, i know how this sounds, but it's real. a war is coming, the last war we will ever fight. win it, and we become the light"

"is that what the cult leader tells you?" clarke asks. "did he tell you what happens if we lose?" octavia says. "we won't"
