Chapter 23 - Weren't supposed to see that

(time skip 2001)
You woke up  a note from John on his  pillow that laid next to yours . It read
Gone to band practice be back round 7 - love Johnny. You smiled at the note but also was sad John wouldn't be home til later but you had stuff to do. You and John had been together 2 years now and you were very serious about each other. You weren't married but it basically felt like you were. You lived together now and had even adopted two cats you had a nice little "family"  sort of going. You decided you really needed to clean up your apartment it was sort of a mess you needed to change  the cat litter and vacuum and do dishes and blah blah blah.

You had most of the apartment clean and felt ambitious enough to go beyond and clean out some of your closet. You began organizing shoes in your closet when something caught your eye. In the corner of the closet was a random notebook you hadn't seen before. Maybe it was one you had but didn't remember? Curiosity got the better of you and went over to flip through it. It was a regular old spiral notebook with a plain red cover it was a little ripped up and missing the bottom corner. You opened the first page to see writing. You recognized it immediately it was clearly Johns handwriting and it was clearly the notebook he used to write lyrics in. John had been writing a lot recently for the new album RHCP was writing they were calling By the Way.  You recognized a few of them especially one song called "Can't Stop" John had showed you that one already because he was really proud of the guitar lick he came up for that one. You continued to flip through and that's when you stumbled across a song you didn't recognize the lyrics said
I got dosed by you and
Closer than most to you and
What am I supposed to do?

Wow those were extremely beautiful you thought. You wondered why John never told you about this one the lyrics were really good.

John got home at 7 like he said and you guys decided to just order take out. You ate your food and John told you how practice went and funny stuff Flea did or something funny Chad said and you guys were enjoying each other's company. But the lyrics and the notebook were still in your head and you wanted to ask John about them but you feel bad and wondered if he'd get mad that you saw them. "John.." you said. "Yeah?" He asked. "I was cleaning my closet today and I found something I wanted to ask you about" you said nervously. John still seemed relaxed he probably was excited honestly he probably thought you were gonna surprise him with some new lingerie or something like that. "Ok what's up babe" John said. "I found a notebook with um lyrics in there and I wanted to ask you-" "What hey you weren't supposed to see those" John cut you off. "It was an accident baby I'm sorry it was stupid but there was a song in there called Dosed and I wanted to ask you" "It's about you" John said cutting you off. You blushed. "Well I kind of figured that part" you chuckled. John still looked a little upset. "I'm sorry are you mad it's not a big deal I'm sorry I shouldn't have brought it up i thought it was sweet that's all and you've shown me lyrics before I didn't think it was a big deal" you said looking down at the floor. John walked over smiling now he lifted your chin up so you were facing him. "I'm not mad you found the lyrics I could never really be mad at you Y/n" John said smiling. "I'm just upset because that song was sort of a surprise for you I didn't wanna show you it till it was complete and on the album that's all it was sort of a present I guess" John said. "Oh" you said blushing. "Yeah I guess it's still a present you just got it sooner" John said kissing your cheek. "Now come here lemme show you something." John said taking your arm and dragging you into the bedroom. John grabbed his guitar from the corner of the room and sat down on the bed and began to strum. Ok you thought you sat there watching even though you had seen him play guitar a thousand times it was still infatuating. Thats when John went into one of the most beautiful guitar intros you had ever heard. John continued to play as he then began singing the lyrics you had previously seen today.
"Wow" you said speechless when John finished playing as he moved his guitar making room for you to sit on his lap. "You like it?" John whispered in your ear. "I love it" you said kissing him.
