Jess' P.O.V
I slept in until noon the following morning. My hand groped the sheets to find Louis but he wasn't in bed. Getting up, I pulled on some comfy pants and a tank top. Didn't really feel like getting all pretty...too much effort.
I traisped out into the hallway where I heard voices increasing in volume as I continued down. At some point, I decided to pause and listen to the now angry voices.
"Mr. Tomlinson we've come to inform you we've found evidence that you are holding Miss. Jessica hostage at this address," an unfamiliar voice boomed.
"I'll tell you again officer, I'm not holding her hostage! She's my girlfriend and we're living here together for the time being," Louis argued.
"Let's not forget Mr. Tomlinson, this situation looks very fishy to the authorites. According to your track records, you could see how we would have some aprehension in the matter."
"Pft- track record?" Louis spat. "That's in the past!"
"With all due respect officer, Jess has made Louis a better person. I'm a witness," Harry input hopefully.
"Excellent, it's always helpful to have a witness in court," the officer declared.
Before I could retreat to my room officers flooded into Harry's flat, two men grabbing me by the arms and pulling me into the foyer.
"Miss. Jessica," the officer addressed me. "You'll all be needed down at the station for questioning."
I nodded at the man and followed him out the door not before turning my head to look at Louis behind me. I was scared. He gave my hand a gentle squeeze.
"You'll be safe," he whispered in my ear.
For now I could only trust that he was right.
Louis' P.O.V
At once, I was separated from Jess. Harry and I were placed in the claustrophobic backseat of the cab. The metal bars separating us from the officer brought back distant memories. Not the time. I yanked at my lip ring to occupy my wandering mind.
Arriving at the station in a hasty thirty minutes, we piled out and we're taken in the building. I saw Jess for a brief moment before she was pulled down the other wing of the elaborate station. It was my turn first, Harry waiting anxiously outside the metal door enclosing me and the officer.
"Well, Mr. Tomlinson, according to your file you seem to have quite the reputation."
I kept quiet, knowing this would go on forever. I was listening to everything he said but my brain was not fully comprehending so I said nothing in response.
"As Officer Neckler explained before you would understand why we would have some concern in the matter, hm?" He waited for my confirmation.
Receiving none, he continued.
"Let's start from the beginning. You met Jess in Iowa and ran into some trouble with the law there, even before she came into the picture. Then, you took it a step further to bring her all the way to England, and ever since there's still been some suspicion about what's going on?"
"You've managed to make some pretty massive mistakes Tomlinson."
Silence.
"What I want to know is why. Why would you take an innocent girl cross country to do what? God knows! Why?" The officer fumed.
"It wasn't my choice okay? It was Jess'."
Smack.
The officer swiped my cheek with his glove and sat back in his chair.
"Lies. Bulls.hit."
"It's all true. Why don't you ask Jess yourself if your so intent on finding out?"
"Great suggestion, I'll go check on her now."
I hoped they weren't hurting Jess. If they even lay a finger on her I swear to God-
My thoughts were interrupted by the metal door opening and closing again as the officer on duty returned.
"Officer Wilkes is handling her down in B wing," he explained cockily.
I shook my head with discust. I was sick. Sick of the games, the running, the fear.
"What?" The officer let out a curious chuckle.
"I just don't understand," I confessed.
"Can't get it through your thick skull, eh?"
"I guess not, because I still can't figure out what the hell I'm doing here."
"You're here because you kidnapped the girl," he sneered.
"I'm here because she wanted me to run away with her," I scoffed.
"You've earned yourself a felony, son."
"And you've made a mistake. You can ask Jess yourself and she'll tell you, this is what she wanted and I agreed to go with her."
"That's where you had made another mistake. You shouldn't have agreed to go with her. You should've known the consiquences. Didn't you think Jess' parents surely would have come looking for you, knowing that some strange boy has abducted their daughter? A boy, per say, who has a record of offenses and is reputable in their hometown?" The officer challenges.
There was a knock on the door before the officer could continue his lecture. It was Officer Wilkes from B wing.
"Sir," he greeted. "I'm afraid we've made a mistake afterall."
My ears perked up at that.
"Jess did ask of Mr. Tomlinson here to accompany her in running away." He said grimly.
The other officer's face paled as my lips formed a familiar smirk. I cocked my head, waiting expectantly.
"My apologies. You're released from questioning." He sighed before his face lit up. "But, that still doesn't mean you're off the hook."
We still had Jess' parents to deal with.
Exiting the small room the officers brought us to a large conference hall in the centre of the building. There, Jess' parents across the table from us. I joined Jess at the table, squeezing her hand under it.
"Jessica," her mother addressed in disgrace.
"Mother, father," Jess greeted lowly, head down.
Her father looked like he was about to burst from the other side of the table.
"I can't believe you!" Jess' father screeched.
"Why, Jessica? You have so good at home! Why would you want to run away with this low life?" Her mother added.
"Louis is not a low life!" Jess stood up. "He actually cares about me! He loves me, as I do him. I want to spend the rest of my life with him, not studying at college and being cooped up in my room!"
Whoa. That was hot. Focus Louis, be serious.
"Foolish child, you don't know what true love is," Her mother scoffed.
"Only because you haven't shown me," Jess spat.
Both parents looked appalled. Jess pulled me up so I was standing next to her. Quickly grabbing my face, she pulled me into a messy kiss to which I heard a gasp from her mother and a groan from her father. Pulling back she grabbed my hand.
"I'm 18, I do what I want, we're happy, f.uck you."
And with that she turned on her heel dragging me along, utterly starstruck. The innocent Jess I once knew was completely gone and replaced with I version I much rather fancied.
