Italy, June 2022
Charles was sleeping in Pia's car in the passenger seat. She was driving him to the airport. It was their new tradition ever since Pia was confident enough in her driving skills. The Monegasque was typically nervous when he wasn't behind the wheel, but it seemed like he didn't mind with Pia.
The Italian looked at him in awe. Her soon-to-be husband. It was still weird to get used to it. Pia didn't want to use this label for him until they didn't set a date for the wedding. Now, when they finally had it, she called Charles like that.
She remembered how casual he was about it. It was one day in March when he came back from Saudi Arabia, and he casually proposed to her again during breakfast.
*FLASHBACK*
Italy, March 2022
"Finally, you're home, Caro," Pia welcomed her boyfriend home. He was gone for two weeks, yet it felt like years.
Charles didn't wait a moment longer. He dropped his bag and immediately wrapped his arms around Pia, resting his weary body against hers. The exhaustion of the past weeks melted away as he buried his face in her shoulder, inhaling the familiar scent that he had missed so much. Pia's fingers found their way into his hair, gently caressing and comforting him.
"I've missed you," he let out quietly. It was a tough beginning to the season, but it was a good one. He won the first race and was a runner-up in the second one. It seemed like he finally had a chance to compete for the title.
Pia tightened her embrace as if trying to shield him from the pressures of the racing world, if only for a moment. "I've missed you too," she replied softly.
Charles sighed, allowing himself to fully relax in Pia's arms. "It's all good. We'll rest for a few days, hm? We'll play some board games and watch some good movies," the Italian said quietly. She loved to take care of Charles.
"That sounds perfect," the Ferrari driver replied, his voice muffled against her shoulder. "I could use a few days of just us."
Pia smiled and gently pulled back. "Now, let's sleep for a bit. I can see how tired you are," she said. It was early in the morning, and the Italian was fully aware Charles didn't sleep whatsoever. She knew he had done all the press duties and had caught his flight home as soon as possible.
Charles nodded, the fatigue evident in his eyes. "You're right," he admitted. "I haven't slept much. Let's get some rest."
Pia led him to their bedroom, the familiar surroundings offering a comforting embrace. Charles collapsed onto the mattress, sighing deeply as he sank into the pillows.
The Italian joined him, pulling a blanket over them both. She wrapped her arms around him, her touch gentle and soothing. "Just close your eyes and relax," she whispered. "You're home now."

"You could've woken me up," the Monegasque said as he made his way to the kitchen. His fiancée was peacefully finishing her cup of tea while reading the news on her iPad.
