THE ANTICIPATION

"I WOULD LOVE FOR YOU TO BE THE BRAND AMBASSADOR OF SRH!" I was too stunned to reply to what Kavya just said. Tons of questions running through my mind. Why me? I have just started my journey. Isn't it too quick?

Kavya reads my face and says, "I know it's a sudden thing to say but let me explain from my point of view. I came to Nyka's event today specifically to see your potential and I definitely see the confidence and passion you have for your work which is amazing. Now if I very honestly speak from a businesswoman's perspective, you know how we're soon gonna have a mega auction for the upcoming season of IPL and this season is going to be huge. Most of the players from our team are youngsters. You are a young and fresh face in the industry and with the munch ad, you've already managed to attract a good amount of attention. Now a young and fresh face representing our young players is a strategy that might or might not work and we'll have to take that chance. Coming to why I specifically want you to take over is again because of the mix of confidence, elegance, and joy you can showcase. So my offer is a combination of the marketing strategies and your potential to attract people through your work. If you have any questions, feel free to ask."

Now that she explained, everything does make sense. It's a competitive industry and I did manage to grab quite some attention from the munch commercial. Grabbing the opportunity to be the brand ambassador for SRH would not only help me get to a much larger scale but also open the doors to more opportunities (hopefully some acting projects) in the future. It was a win-win as it would also help SRH's marketing strategies. AND I MIGHT GET TO MEET HIM 🫠

After taking a few seconds, I reply "Firstly, Thank you very much for such a great opportunity and sorry about getting stunned like that it's just that I didn't expect such a huge offer because I'm very new to the industry but now that you've explained it clearly and also thank you for being so honest about it, everything makes sense."

"Awesome! So do you want more time or do you have an answer for me?" asks a curious Kavya. "Of course! I would absolutely love to be working with you." I say all excited. Who wouldn't be? It's not like I doubt my skills or my potential. I know I will eventually make it big in the industry but the way bhagwaanji just dropped this offer in my arms is something I will always be very very grateful for.

Kavya gets up and hugs me. "How about you come to my office whenever you have time and we can go over the contract, the payment, and any other details or questions you might have? Oh and also once we get you on board, I would love for you to meet the team and get to know them since you guys would be doing the promotions and everything together." As she finishes her sentence, my heartbeat starts to rise just imagining myself meeting HIM!
Tani whispers in my ear, "Imagination to mein to uska naam bol lia kar, kitna sharmaati hai." I look at her with wide open eyes. How tf does she know what I'm thinking about??  I can feel my face turning warm and red. Control Control 😤

"I have another range of Nyka collection tomorrow. I can come day after tomorrow if that's okay." I ask. "Of course. I will text you the location and time." she says as we exchange phone numbers. We say our byes for today and on our way back home, we stop by at the mandir to thank bhagwaanji for today and whatever is in store for the future. The driver of the next auto we are in says, "Arre beta aap wahi ho na munch chocolate ki ad wali. Meri beti ko aap bahut pasand aaye." I look at him through the mirror. A tear just rolls down my face without even asking me. Stupid tear. The first person to tell me he recognizes me. I might as well say this is the luckiest day of my life till now. I know I am smiling like an idiot but who cares...this is my moment and I know it's just the beginning. I give my autograph on a piece of paper to him, "Ye aapki beti ko de dena aur usko thank you bhi bolna meri taraf se please."

Then I turn to Tani, "I have Kavya's phone number. She's the first famous person I've shared my contact with 😁" I say as I do my little happy dance. "Accha vaise mujhe pata hai second number KISKA hoga" Tani smirks. I swear I can't even hide my smile anymore. I just give up and blush all the way. "Sharam karle thodi si hawas ki bhi hadh hoti hai" this girl has the audacity to lecture me about hawas. "Kabhi apne andar jhaank ke dekhegi to pata lagega hawas kise kehte hain" I reply.

Yaar but seriously socha jaaye to Yes I am going to meet Abhishek and eventually get to work with him. I just hope he is single 🤞
We get home and the first thing I do is get Chacha Chachi to sit in front of the tv and connect the video call in the US. "Subah ke 5 baje hai sharam karle thodi si." says my brother as soon as he picks the call. Time zone differences arghhh. When everyone gathers, I tell them about the big news and this is how they reacted 😦🫨😁😘😭
"Aulaad kiski hai" my parents simultaneously say. "Jao na behen kiski hai" my brother continues. "Arre chorro bhatiji kiski hai" Chacha Chacha add on. Then we all look at Tani who says, "Nahi nahi aap sab karlo apna mujhe to pata hi hai meri best friend hai"  We all start laughing 😂

After two days, I head to Kavya's office and complete all the paperwork. We shake hands and Kavya officially comes me to team SRH. "We are planning a dinner this weekend for all the current players and then we will start with the promotions with the players we plan to retain next week. This information is confidential. We are only given 4 players to retain and we plan on keeping Pat Cummins, Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Will you be okay with the schedule?" Kavya asks.

Firstly, I was very happy to hear Bhuvi Bhai's name as he only belongs to SRH. Secondly, Pat and Head have helped Abhishek a lot to shine in the previous season. I obviously wanted other players to be retained too and I hope SRH doesn't lose any of the players. I was relieved to know Abhishek would be sticking with SRH as well.
"Sounds good!" I reply
