Chapter 2: Wolf Moon

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A few hours have passed and Amelia has had a dreamless sleep. She sees on the clock that it's 06:18, which means she has to leave. Annoyed, she puts on her shoes and jacket and gives Peter a kiss on the forehead before quietly leaving the hospital.
"It's still so early. Why do you have to leave now?", Amelia is asked by Simon.
"At 06:30 sharp, the nurse always comes to him, so I sneak out before that." the girl answers the vampire.
Peter looks at her when she answers. He always noticed when she slept in his room and didn't mind. Actually, it was always reassuring for him and distracted him from what had happened. She gave him peace and love. She was his anchor. In these six years she was his greatest help and he wished that he could only have been there for her once in this time as she was for him.
Back home, she climbs through her window, sits down on her bed with a sigh and lets herself fall back. She looks at her bedside table and sees a picture from her childhood. She takes it in her hand and on closer inspection you can see the Hale family, Deucalion and Amelia on it.
9 years ago...
Everyone except Talia played basketball, because Derek had to train and also wanted to prove how good he was, which Amelia of course bet against.
Peter threw the basketball to Amelia and Laura lifted the little tribrid, who sank the ball into the basket. The three began to cheer as a team and gave each other high-fives, while Derek just stood there in disbelief and his six-year-old sister Cora approached him angrily and slapped him the arm.
Everyone has to laugh, even if Laura and Deucalion try to stop themselves.
Talia admonished her youngest daughter with a stern look: "Cora Hale! Apologize to your brother immediately."
"But he played badly and that's why we lost. It's his fault." the little girl said.
"Laura, Peter and Amelia simply played better this time and that's why they won. This is not Derek's fault and no reason to hit him, so apologize now." the Hale-Alpha explained to her daughter.
"Fair enough. I'm sorry I hit you, Derek," Cora said resignedly.
"Accepted." her big Brother answered, still rubbing his arm. Everyone wondered how hard the youngest had struck.
Amelia was still between Laura and Peter and they celebrated their victory. Talia found this moment so beautiful that she decided it had to be captured: "Come together, everyone. I'll take a photo." she said and the whining could be heard.
"Mama!, Talia., Does it have to be?", everyone said in confusion, but she quickly objected: "One day you will thank me for that." and so it was decided.
