Morning sunlight filtered through the blinds, casting a warm glow on Seokmin's face. He stirred, blinking slowly as consciousness returned.
Beside him, Joshua was still asleep, his breathing steady and deep. Seokmin was shocked that Joshua stayed, but still smiled softly, his heart filled with a warmth he couldn't quite explain.
There was a comfort in these quiet mornings-a sense of peace that was rare in their otherwise hectic lives. He looked at Joshua's jawline, the soft curve of his lips, his heart beating faster every second.
A wave of affection washed over him, a feeling that was both familiar and foreign. As the day wore on, Seokmin found himself lost in thought.
The realization of his feelings for Joshua was a slow, creeping awareness. It had started as a fondness, a deep appreciation for his friend's unwavering support.
But as their bond deepened, so too had his emotions. Joshua slowly opened his eyes, getting used to the sudden light. The older male looked at Seokmin and smiled softly.
"Good morning, Minnie." Seokmin's heart pounded loudly in his chest as he heard this nickname. "Good morning, Shua Hyung." Seokmin answered cheerfully, yet somehow nervously.
"Seokmin, I need to go as I have homework to do, but we can meet up at six. What do you think?" Seokmin was a little disappointed that Joshua was going to leave;
however, he still smiled and agreed to meet up at six. With that, Joshua left the room while Seokmin sank in his bed as a shade of red made its way to his face.
The plan to meet in the school garden that evening offered a glimmer of hope. Perhaps in the soft glow of the setting sun, he could find the courage to express his feelings.
But as the hours ticked by, doubt crept in. Rejection was a terrifying prospect, and the fear of losing their friendship was even greater. As the clock approached six, Seokmin found himself pacing nervously.
His heart pounded in his chest, a mix of anticipation and dread. He took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing thoughts.
When the time finally arrived, he headed towards the garden, his mind a whirlwind of emotions.
The garden was bathed in the soft hues of twilight. The gentle rustling of leaves and the distant chirping of birds created a serene ambiance.
Seokmin arrived a few minutes early, his nerves jangling. He found a secluded spot beneath a sprawling oak tree, its branches offering a canopy of shade.
A few moments later, Joshua emerged from the shadows. He was dressed casually, a soft smile playing on his lips. Seokmin's heart skipped a beat.
Joshua sat down beside him, their shoulders brushing against each other. There was a comfortable silence between them, a shared understanding that words were not always necessary.
The gentle breeze carried the sweet scent of jasmine, filling the air with a sense of tranquility. Seokmin stole a glance at Joshua, his heart pounding in his chest.
He wanted to tell him how he felt, but the words seemed to be trapped in his throat. He opened his mouth to speak, but no sound came out.
Joshua turned to face him, his eyes filled with a warmth that made Seokmin's breath catch in his throat. "What's on your mind, Min?"
he asked gently. Seokmin's heart pounded in his chest as he met Joshua's gaze. The words were on the tip of his tongue, but fear held them captive. He opted for a different approach, a diversionary tactic.
"Nothing. It's such a beautiful evening, right?" he commented, his voice steady despite the turmoil within. The soft glow of the setting sun painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, casting long shadows across the garden.
Joshua nodded, his eyes following the same path. "It is," he agreed, his voice low.
A comfortable silence settled between them, a familiar rhythm that had developed over their shared experiences.
Seokmin focused on the gentle rustling of leaves and the distant chirping of birds-anything to distract himself from the overwhelming emotions swirling within him.
He knew he couldn't avoid this conversation for much longer. The feelings he harbored for Joshua were growing stronger by the day.
But for now, he would savor this moment of tranquility, this shared companionship that was the foundation of their bond. The soft glow of twilight cast long, dancing shadows as Seokmin and Joshua settled into a comfortable silence.
The gentle rustling of leaves and distant chirping of birds provided a soothing backdrop to their unspoken conversation. Seokmin's heart pounded in his chest, the weight of his feelings pressing down on him.
He stole glances at Joshua, his eyes filled with a warmth that was both comforting and unsettling.
A gentle breeze carried the sweet scent of jasmine, filling the air with a sense of tranquility. The moment felt suspended in time, a perfect equilibrium of companionship and unspoken longing.
As the sky deepened into shades of purple and gold, a sense of vulnerability washed over Seokmin.
He knew this was the moment to confess his feelings, but he just couldn't bring himself to do that.
He didn't want to risk what they had, so he stayed quiet, just enjoying the little moments he had with Joshua, hoping one day that he would be Joshua's.
