As Ren made his way home after school, a gnawing unease filled the air around him. Shadows flickered along the alleyways, twisting unnaturally, as if they had a life of their own. The weight of malevolence pressed against him, igniting a primal fear that quickened his pulse.
Panic rising, he turned down a narrow alley, desperate to escape the sensation that something sinister trailed him. But as he stepped deeper into the gloom, he came face to face with a sight that shattered his reality—a cursed spirit, its eyes burning with an insatiable hatred. For a moment, Ren thought he was dreaming; he rubbed his eyes, blinked hard, but there was no escape from this nightmare.
Frozen with fear, he braced for the inevitable confrontation, heart racing as the creature drew closer. Just then, a powerful figure emerged from the shadows, exuding an aura that commanded attention. Standing at least 6'3", with silky spiky black hair, he wore dark blue goggles, that concealed his eyes—eyes that glimmered with a piercing green light.
With a flick of his wrist, the newcomer neutralized the cursed spirit, a shockwave rippling through the air. Ren was thrown back, pain jolting through his ankle as he hit the ground. Dazed and disoriented, he struggled to rise, but the shock from the curse's dispersal held him down.
"Hey! Are you alright, pal?" the man called, extending a hand to help him up. Ren could barely respond, the pain blurring his thoughts.
The stranger chuckled nervously. "Sorry, buddy!" He waved his hand over Ren's ankle. To Ren's astonishment, the pain faded instantly, as if it had never been there. He stared, wide-eyed, bewildered.
"W... who are you?" Ren stammered, the remnants of fear still clawing at him.
"The name's Ryota Takeda," the man replied with a confident smile. "And you, Ren Nakamura, just had your first encounter with a curse!"
The weight of those words hung heavy in the air. Ren's world had shifted, and he realized he stood on the precipice of something much larger than himself—an awakening that would thrust him into the depths of a hidden world filled with danger and intrigue.
