The city lay in ruins. Towers that once scraped the sky were reduced to rubble, and the air was thick with the stench of destruction. Armagus, the Titan of Desolation, let out a roar that reverberated through the streets, its monstrous form towering over the remains of Shinjuku. Every step it took was like a hammer blow to the earth, shaking the ground and sending shockwaves through the air. The sorcerers gathered at the edge of the battlefield, their faces etched with grim determination.

Ryota Takeda, the most powerful sorcerer of the modern era, stood at the forefront of the group, his glowy green eagle eyes scanning the battlefield. He knew they were running out of time. The Titan was an unstoppable force, and with every passing moment, it was tearing through the city, leaving nothing but devastation in its wake.

He gathered his team around him: Nika Kusakabe, Ren Nakamura, Miyu Tanaka, Aiko Kuroda, Yumi Takahashi, Ryohei Kamo, and Kyoko Hoshino. Each of them had given their all in this battle, and they were weary, their bodies and spirits pushed to their limits. But Ryota knew they had one last move to play—one final gamble that could turn the tide.

"We have the Nexus Crystal," Ryota began, holding up the glowing artifact that radiated with immense power. "This crystal can amplify a sorcerer's ability beyond their natural limits, pushing them into a state of awakening. In this state, your power will be at its peak, your abilities unmatched. But..." He paused, the weight of his next words heavy in the air. "The cost is your life. Using the Nexus Crystal is a risk. The surge of power it grants can overwhelm you, and if you're not careful, it could kill you."

The others exchanged glances, the gravity of the situation settling in. The Titan let out another deafening roar, its massive fists smashing into the ground, sending a shockwave that toppled what remained of a nearby skyscraper.

"We need a heavy hitter," Ryota said, his voice filled with urgency. "Someone who can take this monster down before it destroys everything."

As Ryota spoke, Nika couldn't help but glance at the cityscape beyond the battlefield, her heart aching at the sight of the destruction. She had seen the evacuation efforts firsthand, and the image of civilians fleeing their homes still haunted her. It had been the right call, but seeing the destruction wrought by the Titan only reinforced the weight of their responsibility.

"We're running out of time," Nika said softly. "If we don't act now, there won't be a city left to save."

"We need to decide now," Ryota said, his voice stern. "Who will wield the Nexus Crystal?"

For a moment, silence reigned. The responsibility was enormous, and no one wanted to see their friend or mentor take on such a dangerous task. The Titan roared again, a reminder of the destruction that loomed.

Then, before anyone could react, Ren Nakamura stepped forward, raising his hand. His expression was resolute, his eyes filled with determination. "I'll do it."

The words hung in the air, and for a moment, everyone was stunned into silence. Miyu's heart sank, her face paling as the realization of what Ren was volunteering for hit her like a wave. "Ren... No," she whispered, her voice trembling. Tears welled up in her violet eyes, and she shook her head in denial. "You can't... You might die!"

Ren turned to face her, his expression softening as he met her tear-filled gaze. "Miyu, I have to do this. There's no other way."

Miyu took a step closer to him, her hands clutching his sleeve, her voice breaking as she pleaded with him. "But you could die, Ren! I... I can't lose you. Please... There has to be another way!"

Ren's eyes softened, and he placed his hand gently on her cheek, wiping away her tears with his thumb. "Miyu... I made a promise to protect the people I care about. To protect you, and everyone else. If this is what it takes, then so be it."
