The afternoon sun bathed the garden in a warm, golden hue, casting long shadows of the trees onto the ground. Ren Nakamura sat on a stone bench, lost in thought. His usually sharp eyes were distant, reflecting the swirling emotions within him. The events of the past few days played over and over in his mind—Kazuki's sacrifice, the intense battles, and, most of all, Ryota Takeda's breakdown. The image of his mentor, usually so composed and powerful, crumbling under the weight of grief was something Ren couldn't shake.

The rustle of footsteps on the grass brought Ren back to the present. He felt a gentle hand on his shoulder, a familiar touch that instantly brought him comfort. Turning slightly, he saw Miyu Tanaka standing beside him, her expression soft and concerned.

"Ren?" she asked quietly, her voice carrying the warmth of the afternoon. "What are you thinking about?"

Ren sighed, lowering his gaze to the ground. "Just... everything, Miyu. Everything that's happened. Kazuki's death, the battles, and especially Ryota-sensei. I've never seen him like that."

Miyu nodded, sitting down beside him on the bench. "It's been hard on all of us," she said gently. "But I think it's been hardest on him. Losing Kazuki... it was like losing a part of himself."

Ren frowned, his hands clenching into fists. "I should have been stronger. I should have protected everyone. But instead, I let my anger and fear take over. I was ready to destroy everything in my path."

Miyu placed her hand over Ren's, her touch calming his trembling fists. "You did what you could, Ren. And you saved me. If you hadn't been there... I don't know what would have happened."

There was a moment of silence between them, the weight of the past days still heavy in the air. Then, Miyu slowly leaned her head on Ren's shoulder, her presence a silent reminder of the bond they shared. Ren felt his heart skip a beat, his thoughts momentarily scattering.

"Thank you, Ren," Miyu whispered.

Ren blinked, turning his head slightly to look at her. "For what?"

"For trying to protect me," she replied, her voice filled with sincerity. "I know you were scared, and I know you were angry, but you still tried to keep me safe. That means more to me than you know."

Ren felt his chest tighten, his emotions swirling between guilt and gratitude. "I'm sorry, Miyu. I... I let my emotions take control. I almost lost myself."

Miyu lifted her head from his shoulder, her violet eyes locking onto his. "Promise me something, Ren."

Ren swallowed, nodding slowly. "Anything."

"Promise me that you'll never let those dark emotions consume you again," she said, her voice firm yet gentle. "I don't want to lose you to that darkness."

Ren felt the weight of her words, the sincerity behind them. He took a deep breath and nodded again, this time more firmly. "I promise, Miyu. I won't let it happen again."

A small smile curved Miyu's lips, and for a moment, the tension between them eased. Then, in a move that Ren didn't expect, Miyu leaned in closer, her face inches from his. Before he could react, she pressed a soft kiss to his cheek.

Ren's eyes widened in shock, his heart racing in his chest. He could feel the warmth of her lips lingering on his skin, the sensation sending his thoughts into a spiral. Miyu pulled back slightly, a mischievous glint in her eyes as she reached into her pocket and handed him a Snickers bar.

"Here," she said with a playful smile. "To keep your energy up."

Ren was too stunned to respond as Miyu stood up, giving him one last smile before turning and walking away. He could only sit there, blinking in disbelief as the weight of what had just happened slowly sunk in. His cheek still tingled where she had kissed him, and he could feel his face growing hot.
