I logged off my desktop as the clock showed 12 in the noon. I took out the two packed lunch boxes, about to head out when I felt a pair of hands pass over my eyes.
"Guess who, darling? "
I giggled removing Yeonjun's hands to look up at him. He was smiling widely, my bracelet dangling from his wrists. We both had decided to not hide our relationship, but also we didn't go out of our way to declare it. If somebody guessed it, then we'll agree with them.
"Let's go to the rooftop! "
I loved holding his hand or placing my hand in the crook of his elbow and did it at every chance I got. We went to the rooftop which was always pretty secluded and had a small garden.
While I didn't really like cooking I had started practicing new recipes, as seeing Yeonjun happily chomping made me ecstatic. Today I packed our bento boxes with kimchi fried rice, sausages and salad. Yeonjun exclaimed at the sleeping bear I made out of the rice and happily dug in.
"Be ready by 8 tonight! I'll come pick you up. "
"Where are we going? "
Yeonjun chuckled at my question. He put his arm around me, dragging me closer to him.
"It's a... Surprise! "
"Uh, but if you don't tell me how would I know what to wear?! "
Yeonjun ponders on that for a while. He picks up a lock of my hair, twirling it with his fingers. Suddenly he moves even closer, his breath on my nape, and whispers.
"Wear a dress. I love seeing you in dresses."
"Okay, jumpsuit it is! "
Yeonjun whines at that making me laugh out loud. He laughs too and proceeds to pepper my face with kisses.
I got ready by eight as Yeonjun told me. I did a light makeup look and left my hair open. I spritz my favorite perfume as the bell rings. Even though I teased him about not wearing a dress, I ended up wearing a puff sleeved periwinkle blazer dress. Yeonjun may have teased me, but I could feel it was a hint. So I chose this semi-formal outfit.
I opened the door, my breath catching when it reveals Yeonjun in shirt and flared trousers with his winter coat thrown over his shoulder holding a bouquet of white and pale pink tulips. I looked at the bouquet in awe, realizing this was the first time I got flowers. I catalogue away the need to find a way to preserve them forever for later. But now I stare at this amazing man who had come into my life so suddenly and made me feel more loved than any man had ever in my life.
Yeonjun never shied away from showing love. It had been two weeks since we started dating, but he couldn't stop showering me with love. He always kissed me and pulled me closer. He made me brownies and candied apples when he learnt that I love them. And moreover, it was the way he looked at me. With pride and love. No one looked at me like that.
I feel his eyes roaming all over, from the tip of my toes and moving up until our eyes met and we both get a little lost in each other's eyes. He walks over inside and is quick to wrap his arm around me, kissing me.
I feel the sparks tingling beneath my skin, the kaleidoscope of butterflies going wild in my belly. I can smell his sandalwood cologne, feel the soft material of his shirt under the pads of my fingers. His plump soft lips slide against mine, slow and sensual as if he was savouring my lips.
I gasped as I felt his tongue swipe slightly and using this opportunity, Yeonjun coaxes my mouth open. Our tongues dance and caress until we are breathless. I slowly open my eyes which I had shut tight and looked up at him.
"You won't believe how much I love the fact that I am now free to do this now..."
"Really?... "
I ask coyly, smoothing the collar of his shirt which I had crumpled while kissing him. My fingers ghosted over his nape, making him groan.
"Don't do this, otherwise I can't leave.. "
"Fine, just let me put these gorgeous flowers in the vase. It is the first time someone got me flowers, I can't even express how much I love that it's you who did. "
When I turned, Yeonjun gazed at me intensely.
"It was the first time I got someone flowers too. I heard that all flowers convey some message, but I'm afraid to admit I don't know. When I went to the florist, I thought I'll get you roses. However the red roses felt meaningless to me then I saw these fresh tulips, looking so graceful, lovely and pure and it reminded me of you. My first love. "
I almost teared up. I hugged him, snuggling in his comfort. We got out and Yeonjun started driving. I asked him several times where he was taking us, but he never replied.
"We're here. Wait for me, I'll open the door."
He got out and came to open the car door. It was the largest and most prestigious theatre in Seoul which boasted of hosting several renowned actors. I looked at it a little starstruck. I had never really imagined coming here because it was quite out of my league. Yeonjun took my hand in his and we walked in. He showed the tickets while I looked around.
"I've heard that the play on The Phantom of the Opera is legendary. It has become the bestselling one of this year. I thought you'll like it. "
I gripped his arm excitedly. I was pretty sure, my eyes looked all starry.
"I love it! I'm so excited. "
The next three hours seemed to zoom by, as I immersed in the bright lights, amazing music and the captivating perform of thr actors. There was a distinct charm to the performance, so dramatic and invigorating.
Half way through, my hand was encased in Yeonjun's and we shared smiles and glances every now and then.
I thought we were going home, but Yeonjun turned lanes suddenly. His response:
"The night has just started! "
He had reservations at an amazing Italian restaurant where we enjoyed delicious pasta on the moonlit rooftop with the wine flowing.
"Do you want some ice cream? "
I nodded as we went to the ice cream truck. We both got mint chocolate and vanilla double scoop. Hand in hand, we walked around the vast park. It was mostly empty except the occasional couple here and there. The air was cold with the late January chill, smelling of crushed grass.
Everything was so peaceful, until a big drop of rain splattered right on the tip of Yeonjun's nose making me giggle before kissing it away. In the span of few seconds, the rain pelted down on us. We squealed, jumping up to rush to his car. But an almost hysterical cackle crawled up my throat. Yeonjun stopped running to stare back at me.
Then suddenly, we two were chuckling away like a pair of two year olds, splashing puddles and dancing away all silly. If anybody saw us they would think we were wayward drunkards.
Finally when we reached his car, all breathless with mirth, Yeonjun made me change into his warm hoodie he kept in his car for emergencies. Then turning up the heater, he drove away at full speed. He only left after making sure I was dry and cocooned in blankets.
This was only the start of the wonderful times we spent.
