The first day didn't go as well as I thought it'd be.
Don't get me wrong, I had my expectations very low. And when I say low I mean lower that the land, lower that the last cookie.
That low.
The day before was the best, the king let me have my own house since a dorm full of boys in his opinion wouldn't go well. It wasn't trouble though, it's right next to the school, a 2 minute walk through a small bridge built in a rush, but still good.
I had the day to myself, setting everything up and getting started on reading several school books.
I know it doesn't change anything but I decided to jog a little around the house.
I'll be training with the guys, and it wouldn't be a problem if not the fact that I'm a girl which means I don't have the same body type as them and am different in a lot of subjects, subjects that won't matter once I step sky kingdom college. I'm not expecting any softness from anyone, much less any advantage when it comes to learning and training.
My body isn't ready, hell, it doesn't look as strong as any of the guys'. I know I shouldn't be comparing myself to any of them, especially since we're different genders, but I'm not even close to the equivalent of their body to mine. I'm a hundred years from being as strong as them.
I still can't give up.
I fought to get here and I earned my place here, I can't complain, it won't change anything, I'm lucky enough they let me live.
As I walked into college on the first day, I couldn't help noticing the stares burning my body.
I try to ignore it, although some whistles make me want to scream right there. But I'm already the track of attention as it is, so I fight it.
As I walk in the arena, I notice more sets of eyes on me.
I decide to sit in the back right corner of the stairs, being done with all the attention.
In a few seconds we'll have the king give the opening speech, which seems all but boring to me.
I notice someone sitting next to me, and eyeing me. It takes everything not to eye him back, just to see if he can get out. It's been a few minutes and I'm already pissed off.
If I want this year to go smoothly I have to ignore the obvious and justified stares. There's judges who name me unworthy of course, but also some of them are genuenly curious to see the first girl warrior in history.
"Hi" he says simply. When my eyes meet his I notice his blue eyes piercing mine, he's got glowy skin and a nice smile "You're Fauna right?"
"Yeah" I answer, still unsure of his intentions.
He reads my expression and smiles "Don't worry, I think you're totally badass"
I mimmick his expression "Thank you"
"Don't mind her Will" A guy smirks as he sits behind me "She won't be here for long"
I glare at him "What is that supposed to mean?"
He laughs "You can't seriously think the king would let you go this easily" His eyebrows raise when he notices my lack of response "You really are clueless aren't you?"
"Aloc" Dylan warns.
"What?" He shifts in his seat "Take this advice as a welcoming gift. The entrance exam was the easiest part, most of us die in the first year, my brother is a sophomore, and he saw some seriously fucked up shit" I flinch at his harshness "You're in for a ride. The king only let you live because he knew you'd be dead sooner or later"
