jake sighs as his gaze follows the ground. he is currently waiting for soojin to come downstairs. he can't help but anxiously tap on the ground with his feet repeatedly.

he scarcely had any sleep last night. all he thought of was seeing soojin one more time. he is feeling guilty and that guilt is eating him up.

on the other hand, soojin hasn't been blaming on jake for ditching her last time and making her wait for hours. it was her decision to wait afterall.

getting the text from jake, her mind was working tirelessly. what should i do?

another text from jake. and then she makes up her mind. she will go. and talk to him.

it takes her about five minutes to open the front gate and come out of the house.

there he is. in his own imagination as he spaces out.

but it doesn't take long until he notices her standing infront of him.

"soo.. " as soon as he sees her a smile automatically appears on his face.

"hey."

"oh, hey. how are you?" he closes the long distance between them as he paces forward.

"jake," she looks at him without having a hard reaction. she doesn't smile unlike everytime. "what if someone sees her? we can't talk like this."

it is wrong. really wrong to her. or at least she thinks so. a kpop idol infront of her house?

oh soo, what did you get yourself into?

it's complicated as well. her feelings. the situation. the future. she can't see a quite good future for the both of them even being friends.

she's not deluded. she thinks realistically or atleast for now she does.

"let's get inside the car then?"

soojin gives a single nod before following him to the car.

"i'm sorry," is the first thing he says after getting inside the car. 'i'm going to explain it to you but please. can i be forgiven now?"

he does explain what had happened and that he even tried to contact her which he miserably failed to do so.

"i understand. i really do, jake. it's your job and you don't need any apologize for that."

he is happy for a moment when she says she isn't mad at him for that. but why did she ignore him? he wonders.

"i am sorry," she is the one to say it this time. she takes a few minutes before she continues.

"what do you mean?"

"i was taking away so much time from you without even realizing it."

"no- that's not-"

"it is," she stops him. and as sadness and regret was taking up every space in her body, she looks away.

"you are taking it in a wrong direction, soo!"

"i am sorry. you are an idol afterall."

it hits jake. right at his heart. an idol.

being an idol feels the worst thing to be at the moment. you don't have privacy, you never have enough free time, you always have to work hard, you have to sacrfice your own happiness for others.

at one point he did question if it was the right decision that he made to be an idol. after all the hardwork he had put, all the effort-

but her. whenever she has texted him it felt less heavier, he was always looking forward and always seemed to be excited. no more critical thoughts, more focused.

he can't talk. it is hard swallowing all the hurt.

"i will always keep your promise. i will stay by your side. always. never doubt it. perhaps," she says. "we can meet  and have coffee some day again," she smiles. with that smile carries pain and probably something else too.

he looks away. swallows.

afterward she gets out of the car and he doesn't stop her anymore.
