soojin comes downstairs in a rush. when she opens the door she sees jake standing infront of her front gate.
"hey."
"hi, darling," he smiles.
"you're here."
he nods.
and then she rushes toward him as he pulls herself into an embrace. he bends down to her level of height. his face slowly buries into her neck as he caresses her back. she wraps her arms around his shoulder. her nose fills with jake's cologne. "i missed you," he whispers. after a few seconds they break the hug.
they were so close. too close.
jake's nose almost brushes hers before he leans in.someone clears their throat.
"uhm, hey guys."
the two of them turn around as they see who it is.
"jay!"
that was from soojin. her cheeks turn pinkish at the thought of jay witnessing the earlier scene.
jake rolls his eyes. "you never have a good timing."
"well, i guess not," jay's hand moves to his nape as he chuckles awkwardly.
soojin looks at jake as he is about to explain something. "well, uh...he just wanted to come along," he says which jay corrects by adding, "in case you 'push' him away again," jay shrugs.
well, partially that was the intention but jay did want to see her too.
"it's okay!" soojin tries to banish the awkwardness. "i'm sorry."
jay comes forward and stands beside jake. "it's okay. do y'all wanna grab some coffee? also i'm hungry. let's have dinner together."
"i'm in!" soojin exclaims.
the car ride wasn't really silent as they joined in little conversations. jay sacrificed his passenger seat for soojin as he sat at the back.
"you two, don't do something gross infront of my eyes, okay?" jay jokes.
"what do you mean?" jake takes a quick glance at jay.
"i mean, earlier you two were really close and i was almost witnessing my friend kis-"
jay couldn't finish his sentence when jake glares at him.
"well, whatever. drive faster, i'm hungry, dude " he grins nervously.
after about half an hour jake halts the car infront of a restaurant.
"the owner of this restaurant is my cousin. so feel free. nobody's watching us here because i've already informed him that we are coming," jay says in one breath.
soojin nods as she follows the two boys.
jay's cousin comes to greet them as they choose a table.
"uh hey," jay says. "he's jake as you know and she...is soojin."
"nice to meet you!"
"should i have said something else?" jay hisses to jake's ear.
"shut up."
-
"but for real though, soojin. you should come visit our dorm someday. the boys would love to see you!" jay says as he slices the meat before stuffing it in his mouth.
but deep inside jake really didn't want her to come. the thought of her giving more attention to the boys than to him would really upset him.
"i'd love to, honestly!" soojin smiles.
jake notices her not being able to cut the piece of meat as she struggles.
"let me," he slices the meat for her."wow, what a nice view," jay claps. "never knew you were that romantic type, bro."
"you're doing this on purpose, aren't you?"
"do you have a doubt?"
soojin chuckles at their silliness wondering how much of a chaos they make every single day.
-
jake drops her off. they both get out of the car, leaving jay only inside.
"it was nice tonight. jay is such a mood maker," she smiles. "thanks for bringing him with you."
"what about me?" he stares into her eyes.
"you- of course- i-"
"soo."
"yes?"
"earlier when i texted you, i meant it." jake slowly closes the distance between them.
"what?"
"how do you not get it?" he chuckles. "i like you."
she knows that the man is waiting for an answer.
"it's okay. i'm not pushing you. don't say anything at all if you don't-"
"i feel the same way," she says quickly before turning around and getting inside her house.
"wait- what?"
