Beatrice couldn't believe it.

90.67

These numbers were displayed on the screen next to the pool. The girl was already out of the water, wrapped in a towel, with her coach by her side. She smiled at the camera, holding a small towel she used to wipe her face as she walked onto the three-meter diving board.

And what did these numbers mean? In this moment, they meant she had won the entire tournament, and they also meant she had qualified for the Olympics. This score and placement secured her spot at the Olympics. It was her third qualification this year, but she was still very emotional. At the start of the season, she qualified for the Olympics with her partner in synchronized diving. A few weeks later, she won on the ten-meter platform, earning a spot in that discipline as well. And now, this—three meters.

Beatrice took a deep breath as she realized the significance of her achievement. 90.67, the number that changed her life, still shone on the screen by the pool. It was no dream; it was reality. It was a combination of perfect technique, precise timing, and flawless execution. The hours of training, sacrifices, and countless repetitions had paid off. She knew that if she made any mistakes, her entire career could crumble like a house of cards, but today everything went perfectly.

Her coach, Alberto Esposito, standing next to her, hugged her and whispered words of encouragement with a smile on his face. "I'm incredibly proud of you," he said. "You did it. You're the best." Beatrice smiled, but tears of happiness welled up in her eyes, as the magnitude of it all hit her. These were the moments she had dreamed of since childhood, when she first saw diving on TV and started imagining herself standing atop a podium with a medal around her neck.

Her thoughts drifted to her family and friends who had supported her throughout her career. Her parents, who took her to training and encouraged her during tough times. Friends who believed in her, even when she doubted herself. And her training team, who spent countless hours helping her perfect every detail of her performance. Each of them was a part of her journey, and she was grateful for their support.

Beatrice recalled her early training sessions when she was scared to dive from the lowest platform. Gradually, her skills improved, and she dared to try higher and more complex dives. Today, as a double world champion, she was at the peak of her career, at just twenty-two years old, preparing for the biggest challenge of her life—the Olympic Games. She knew it wouldn't be easy. The Chinese athletes were considered the absolute best in this discipline, but Beatrice was determined to prove she could stand on the podium too.

The Olympics meant not only personal success but also a chance to make history. Italy had never won a gold medal in women's diving, let alone in all three disciplines in one season. Beatrice was aware of the weight of expectations on her shoulders, but she also felt a tremendous motivation. She wanted to be the first. She wanted her name to be etched in history.
