"Elena Ahlgrim if you don't step away from that cake I'll spray you with sink water, so help me I will!" Natalie called out in anger, faucet spout at the ready as she watched her daughter hop off the bar stool to run out the kitchen with a contagious giggle.
Natalie shook her head, strings of blonde catching in the crook of her mouth before she had time to tuck the short strands behind one ear.
Tonight the Ahlgrim family was expecting guests and Natalie made it clear that the house had to be in tip top shape by 7:30, that's when their dinner guests would arrive so naturally the family started preparing 2 days early.
Trent was in charge of finishing their dining room which still hasn't been completed since the remodel they did last year, his other job was to delegate chores to the 3 little ones.
He made sure not to give them anything too hard, just some simple cleaning and to stay out of the kitchen, though they were all having a hard time doing that last bit due to all the wonderful smells coming from there.
Natalie, being the chef and owner of her hit restaurant 'The Waterfront Lily' made it her chore to handle any and all the cooking...however cooking was never a seen as a chore to her.
She glanced up at the clock hanging in the kitchen, hand painted fruit slices decorated the face of it, her artistic and very particular husband, painted it so the item matched the kitchens decor beautifully.
She wasn't admiring its beauty however, she was looking at the time, reading 6:40. She hadn't even finished cutting the salad yet.
"Trent! How's the dining room coming?" Natalie yelled from across the house stirring the bowl of mashed potatoes anxiously.
"Itz coming along nicely Nat, don't vorry, just adding finishing touches to ze vallpeper." He shouted back nonchalantly. She huffed in response, she could tell he was not as nearly in a hurry as she was.
"Trent I said not to get all artistic with it, just plaster on the wallpaper I bought and move the furniture in! We've got a little less than an hour now!"
"Zhere vas a miss print! I can't jusst hang it up looking ugly!" Her husband called back and he could feel her rolling her eyes. "Fine, fine I hang it up now. Don't complain vhen it looks bad."
She gave a sigh of relief, it was short lived as Ethan came into the kitchen, eyes focused on the floor and hands behind his back. Something had happened and a million ideas on what that was flooded her mind.
"Mommy, um I was cleaning like I was supposed to and stuff but, Buggs wanted to help so I gave him the rag to wipe stuff down..." Ethan trailed off, showing Natalie the famous Looney Toons character plushie they had gifted him last year. "Then I went to go clean other stuff but, but when I came back Buggs just left the rag there and, the table soaked up the water."
