(AN. You know, you lot aren't appreciative of my incredible last lines. So just you wait, I will give you ominous. Question of the day: What other fanfiction would you all like to see?)
"Slugclub is tonight," I said with a smile, lying on Mattheo's bed.
"I am aware. I had to purchase a short-sleeved shirt for this," Mattheo noted, buttoning up his short-sleeved black shirt. He put on a pair of black dress pants and a black belt to match. He put on a silver snake ring and brushed through his hair.
I followed his lead and grabbed a blue slip dress. I changed in the same room as Mattheo and noticed his eyes didn't leave my body. I went over to my jewelry box and put on some silver earrings and a silver necklace with the letter M on it. A gift from Mattheo.
"I want to take this dress off of you and make you mine," Mattheo whispered behind me, his hands playing with my hair, and tugging slightly.
"You're too much of a coward to do so," I tease slightly, standing to kiss him.
Mattheo shoved me against the wall and started making out with me. I gasp left my lips before I kissed him back. I jumped up, wrapping my legs around his waist as we kissed. He started to grind into me before a voice filled to room.
"No please continue. I would never want to get ready for this meeting tonight," Blaise said, standing by the entrance with his arms crossed.
"Cock-block," Mattheo told him, placing me on the ground.
"Hey, if I am not getting any, neither are you mate," Blaise smirked, taking his shirt off and putting on a dark green shirt. He changed into black dress pants and put a black overcoat on. He also put on a silver ring. He looked good, just not as good as Mattheo did.
"So, why were we the only three to get an invite?" I inquired as we walked to the room where the meeting was taking place.
"Honestly, not sure. You make sense, miss girl-who-lived," Blaise replied, "Maybe my mom's reputation helped."
"Maybe, but what about you?" I asked Mattheo.
"There's a way he looks at me. He knew my brother," Mattheo spoke up.
"Mate, everyone knows your brother," Blaise answered him.
"No, this is different. I think he knew my brother before he became Voldemort," Mattheo explained, opening the door for me and Blaise.
Slughorn approached us, glancing at Mattheo's arm before smiling brightly at us, "I am so glad you could join us! Please, take a seat at the table!"
The three of us sat near the edge of the table. I felt people's eyes on my arms as I conversed with my friends. My self-harm scars were showing, and I normally covered them up. Harry was giving me pitying looks from across the table, after all, this was his first time seeing that I had hurt myself. I forced a smile at him, and he gave one back.
"I just have some questions for everyone. Twins, what has it been like to go against you-know-who?" Slughorn asked me and Harry.
"Exciting," Harry replied.
"Annoying," I answered, "And it normally ends with the mourning of someone."
"Hermione, what is it your parents do?" Slughorn asked.
"They are dentist. They clean teeth," she replied.
"Is this just a way for him to show off higher-achieving or high-class students?" I asked Blaise.
"I think so."
"Blaise, what is it your mum does to make you all so much money?" Slughorn asked him.
"She gets married," Blaise answered coldly.
"That's all?"
"Yup."
Slughorn asked a few more people about their families before coming to Mattheo.
"What is it like knowing who your brother is?" Slughorn asked.
"Terrible. He killed my girlfriend's parents, godfather, and multitudes of other people. And everyone assumes I am just like him," Mattheo answered as coldly as Blaise did.
"Because you are," Cormac replied, causing people to snicker.
"I just remembered that I have some Defense against the Dark Arts homework. Sorry for leaving so early, but thank you for the invitation, Professor," Mattheo replied before leaving the dining room.
"Fuck all the way off, McLadden," I spat at him before turning to face Slughorn, "It was an honor professor."
I found Mattheo in an empty classroom pacing back and forth. I went up to him and hugged him. He hugged me as tears fell from his eyes.
"I don't want to be like him," Mattheo sobbed.
"And you aren't. You are nothing like him. Cormac is just a fucking prick," I replied, rubbing his back.
"I am sorry I ruined your night," Mattheo told me, wiping his eyes and standing straight again.
"You have ruined nothing. I'd rather be with you, than in a stuffy room filled with people of high esteem," I answered, holding his hand.
"I had plans for tonight that have been ruined," he answered honestly.
"I see no reason why we can't continue them," I told Mattheo before kissing him.
We made out for a few minutes before he pulled away from me, "As incredible as that seems, that was not my intent for tonight."
"Well now you have me intrigued," I answered honestly.
"Do you trust me?" He asked me.
"With my life."
"I have permission from Snape to use the floo system. I have somewhere I want to take you," Mattheo told me, "May I use a spell to deafen you so it is a surprise?"
"You may," I grinned.
Mattheo muttered a spell, and I couldn't hear anything. He led me through the castle and stepped into the floo system with me. I closed my eyes. When we landed Mattheo reversed the charm. I saw we were in the Lucky Cauldron, only no one else was in there. I saw flowers around the building and was instantly confused. He brought me over to the bar and told me to order whatever I wanted.
"I will just have a Coke," I replied.
"And the same for me," Mattheo replied.
We got our drinks, but I just looked at him confused. Finally, Mattheo dropped to his knee.
"You are the best thing to ever happen to me, Love. You saw light in the darkest parts of me. brought joy to the coldest parts of me. And saw someone worthy of love when most just ran in fear. I know we are young, but a war is coming. I want to be more than just a boyfriend to you when it does come. I want to be more to you for the rest of our lives. Hayden Potter, will you marry me?"
It is reckless. We are young. But I couldn't stop the I do that slipped from my lips.
Oh, what the decision that would turn out to be.
