RHAVENA WAS NOT half as happy as she always used to be after spending time at Winterfell. She'd had a big fight with Draven before she'd left, and now her spirits were low because of it. She spent the entire flight back to King's Landing thinking about what they had argued about, for with her thoughts in so much turmoil, she refused to travel by carriage, all that silence and stillness would do her no good at the moment.
She had peace as she flew, but once on land, the altered reality she constructed while in the sky disappeared, and the full weight of her true reality fell back on her.
Draven had complained to her how much she seemed to be changing, saying that there was something dark about her that she refused to accept, that she refused to talk about. Rhavena ignored him at first, but when he became more insistent, she treated Draven as she used to treat Lords who wouldn't leave her alone; with a condescension she was now regretting like nothing else in her life.
She had to find Rhaenyra before her head exploded.
Since she had returned two days before the original date, no one in her family was aware that she was home, so no one was waiting for her.
Rhavena was walking through the corridors of the Keep to her sister's room when she passed the Throne Room, and the conversation inside stole her attention.
She stopped her handmaiden and her guard who came with her, and after recognizing the voices of her father and uncle, asked them both to move forward without her.
The guards on either side of the gate turned away, ignoring the princess after she motioned them to silence. Rhavena moved closer to the door, catching a glimpse through a small gap of her uncle lying on the floor with what appeared to be a terrible hangover, and her father walking around him.
"You've defiled her."
Rhavena frowned, wondering who they were talking about when her father did something that made her cover her mouth in surprise. She'd seen him angry with Daemon hundreds of times in the past, but beyond that he'd never been physical with his brother, not until the kick he'd just given Daemon, at least.
"And still you say nothing." "What does it matter, brother? When we were Rhaenyra's age we fucked our way through the most of the brothels on the Street of Silk."
The young princess's mouth nearly dropped to the floor at the sound of her sister's name.
Fuck, she'd only been gone for two weeks...
"We were young men. She's just a girl. Your niece!"
Rhavena rolled her eyes and had to suppress her whimper, sure, because men could fuck an entire village and nobody would blink an eye, but hells freeze if a woman fucked for pleasure and not duty; a whore she must be, no doubt.
