Straight 'A' Student

Chapter 28

"So what time is your Christmas party tomorrow night?" Connor asked.

"6, something tells me I'll be home by 9" Joshua groaned.

"Eleanor's not going?"

"No, she's not feeling well, but I already sent in an RSVP and I'm dreading it".

"You'll have fun, man. You'll at least have alcohol" Connor said before there was a knock on the door "that's the door, I'll call you later".

"Yea. Talk to you later".

Connor walked through the penthouse until he reached the front door.
"Baby, I tell you to call me when you have groceries" he half scolded her as he took the bags from her hand and let her walk inside.

"You said you were working, I didn't want to bother you".

"Summer".

"I'm sorry" she stood on her toes and kissed him before he started to put up the groceries "so I decided to switch what I was cooking, I'm thinking of doing homemade sushi and like a whole Japanese inspired spread. More variety than the steak".

"That's a good idea. I did want to talk to you face to face though".

"About?"

"My mom called, they're flying in for Christmas tomorrow morning. I know you're really wanting to do this Christmas Eve slash house warming dinner with your friends, so just focus on that, I just wanted to give you a heads up".

"Well I don't want to make them uncomfortable, I'll ask Avery if we can have dinner at her place to give them space" Summer said, her face dropped a bit and he moved around the island to comfort her.

"Not at all, have it here. I've already booked a hotel for their first night. I wasn't kicking you out, like I said, I just wanted to give you a heads up that they were coming".

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, angel. This is your home too and I know that you've been looking forward to this".

"Thank you" she smiled again and kissed him.

"You're welcome".

"Well, since I switched the menu, why don't I come with you to get them from the airport and go to breakfast. I won't have to start cooking as early".

"I'm sure they'd like that, angel, thank you".

"Of course. How was your day?"

"It was alright, finishing up work so I can take the next few days off with you".

"What's considered few?"

"Christmas Eve to New Years".

"Perfect".

"I thought you'd say that, beautiful" he kissed her and lifted her into his arms.

The next morning they got up to get ready for the day. They put on simple outfits then left for the airport.

"Hello, how are you two?" Cora asked excitedly as she and Lee got in the backseat. It would be the first time they came to see Connor since Summer moved in.

"We're good, mom, how was the flight?"

"Mostly smooth, the airport on the other hand was totally hectic".

"Well we're glad you made it safe. Up for breakfast?" Summer asked.

"Yes, of course".
They reached the restaurant and waited about ten minutes for a table to open up. They got coffee for the table and some waters then put in their orders. Since it was breakfast, there wasn't much to think about.
