Summer sat up from the couch as the door opened and Connor walked down the small hall into the living room.

"Hi, how was work?" She asked as he leaned over the couch and kissed her cheek.

"Good, how was your day?"

"I've been here. Dinners finished if you're ready to eat".

"You didn't have to cook, but thank you".

"Sure. I'll get our plates, go clean up" she said getting up as he went to his room. They sat down and started eating before Summer spoke.

"Hey, so you never really answered me when I asked if you were coming to Josie's house warming with me" she said.

"Um, well, those are your friends. I don't want to intrude".

"Uh huh, my friends know about you".

"Yea and Josie's boyfriend, and his friends?"

"Even if anyone asks, which is unlikely, who cares. It sounds like you just don't want to go, if that's the case, just say that".

"It's not that I don't want to be there, I just don't want to feel like I'm crashing".

"Fine".

"Summer".

"I said it's fine. You don't want to go, so don't go, Connor" Summer said before they continued eating in silence, the only sound coming from the television.

"I'll clean up. Thank you for dinner" Connor said taking their plates and Summer nodded. He could tell she was annoyed, so he didn't say anything else.
A little while later Summer went to shower then he got in after her.

"I was thinking I'd call it a night, long day at work" he said coming out of the bathroom and drying his hair.

"Sure, I'll be in a little bit".

"Good night, Summer" he kissed her.

"Good night" she told him then grabbed her phone and went out into the living room to watch more television.

When Summer woke up in the bed the next morning Connor wasn't there. She remembered accidentally falling asleep on the couch, but that was it. She grabbed her phone and went to the restroom as she checked her messages.

'Hey, I'll be there around 4 to pick you up. Did you talk to Connor again?' Avery texted so she answered that first.

"No, I did not. He's not even here right now. It's fine if he doesn't go, that's not the issue. It's just that as soon he hinted at not wanting to go, my mind jumped back to the first two weeks of our relationship'.

'Which means?'

'When we first started dating I thought he would think me and my friends and my issues and all of that are too immature for him. Then I go and invite him to a house warming party full of college kids, how could he not think that'.

'Uh because he has some sense. If you were too immature for him, you wouldn't be together. Trust. Just talk to him again'.

'I will. I'll see you at four'. Summer texted last then checked her other messages.

'Your father and I get in around 6 tomorrow. We're renting a car, but why don't you and Connor meet us for dinner when we get in' Susanna texted.

'Sounds like a good idea. I'll let you know where' Summer responded then scrolled through a few more texts before checking Connor's.

'Went for a workout and a run, letting you know in case you wake up and I'm not there'.
