After the annual cook out and Namjoon making that speech, the faith of the pack seemed to get a little better. Royce Carmichael still voiced his opinions but there was reported less agreement on his opinions than before.
I was finishing up a training session with a few female Betas when I saw Hoseok walking from the wooded line and on the phone.
He seemed...distraught, and his body language was rigid.
When he looked up he saw that I was looking at him, and he almost stopped dead where he was. He looked to his left and right as almost to see if there was a way he could escape me, before he looked back at me.
He continued to walk towards me as he was on the phone, and before he got too close he ended his call.
"You guys practice with one another." I looked over the group I was helping. "You need to know how it feels to defend yourselves against a real person. Remember pressure points and please don't hurt yourselves. You want to get away, not fight."
I walked over to Hoseok, who offered me a very obviously forced smile.
"Hey Luna." He greeted me.
"Whats wrong?" I asked immediately.
He seemed a bit taken back but let out a nervous laugh and I could see a bit of panic in him. "N-nothing." He responded. "Im just really tired. I was going to go take a bit of a nap. I've been up all night."
"You were working all night?"
"Someone called out." He said. "They had a family emergency and I didn't feel like calling the on call out, I just went out myself."
"Then you have not slept in almost a full day?" I asked him.
"Yeah, that's why I need to go sleep."
He gave me a slightly more genuine grin, but I didn't believe that was the whole story. "Okay, so after you sleep a little are you going to find me so we can talk about what is really bothering you?"
He paused and locked eye with me for a moment before he closed them and let out a deep sigh through his nose.
"How do you know something is bothering me?" He asked.
"Alpha powers." I said making him crack a smile. "I can tell you're tired but when you walked out of the brush over there and saw me see you, you almost bolted. Just tired would not trigger a flight in a beta." I said.
I reached my hand out to his, which he gripped my fingers affectionately. When he opened his eyes again I could tell that he was trying desperately not to cry.
"Hoseok." I said, walking closer to him. "What is going on?"
"I cant talk about it here." He said, his voice wavering. "I cant..."
"Okay, okay, hold on."
I pulled him to the golf cart that I was using and made sure he was settled before I walked back to my class.
"Everyone is dismissed for the day." I said. "We are almost done anyway and you are all doing really well. We will add an extra 20 minutes to next session to make up for the time lost okay?" I said as I grabbed my bag and the key to the golf.
"Is everything alright luna?" A newly presented beta girl asked me.
"Yes, I just have to take care of my friend who is a little too tired from working all night to walk home." I laughed.
"Oh okay." She smiled, looking over to Hoseok and giving him a small waive. "He is going to be our Pack Leader's mate someday." She said to me. "He's going to be a good one for him too."
