- The next day -
Tuesday
"So what happened last night that was so important you couldn't text?" Ariana asked as she took a bite out of her sandwich. It was lunch break and me and the twins were sitting at a table in the cafeteria.
I started telling them about what had happened witch Chloe last night. I told them about the attack, how I saved her and how she had hurt her ankle, so I offered to bring her home.
It took Even and Ariana a few seconds to take everything in. "You brought her home? that's so cute!" Ariana squealed in excitement. I chuckled at her enthusiasm.
"Oh so when she hurts her ankle you bring her home, but when I broke my nose a few months back, you didn't even bother to get me an ice pack" Evan tried to sound mad, but I knew he was being playful.
"It wasn't my fault that you broke your nose" I scoffed, also in a playful manner.
"Yes it was, you threw a football at my head"
"How was I supposed to know the only thing you can catch is a cold?" I chuckled and Ariana burst out laughing. Evan sat back in his chair with a pout on his face, pretending to be sad.
Our laughing was interrupted when I saw a message appear on my phone. It was from Chloe.
"I bet that's Chloe asking for another private Red Spider ride through the city" Ariana teased.
I playfully rolled my eyes. "It doesn't say that. She just texted me saying that she isn't at school because she twisted her ankle, but that we can still work on the assignment together after school"
"I didn't know you two had a studie date" Ariana teased, playfully punching my arm with her fist.
"It's not a date we're just gonna work on a project together that's all I think I mean she did call it a studie date but I guess she was just joking right I mean it's not like she likes me well maybe she likes me but not like that you know what I mean?" I rambled on in one breath.
Evan chuckled. "Jeez, Red, calm down. You know you're allowed to breath in between sentences, right?"
I sighed in frustration. "I don't get, last night when I talked to Chloe, I didn't feel nervous at all. I didn't stutter or sweat or say something stupid. I was confident and not...awkward. Maybe it's because of the suit"
"So, from now on every time you talk to Chloe you'll put on a tight suit?" Evan joked, which earned him a slap on the head from his sister.
"Don't listen to him, Red. He couldn't get a girlfriend to save his life" Ariana shot back at her brother, who stuck up a particular finger at her.
I chuckled and Ariana focused her attention back to me. "It's all between your ears Red. Chloe doesn't like the suit, she likes the person that's under it"
I raised my eyebrow. "So, she likes The Red Spider?"
Ariana slapped her forehead. "Red, the only difference between you and The Red Spider, is that one of you wears a suit with a mask. Do you see where I'm going with this?"
