Chapter 1: I'll shoot him in his scrawny balls

"Oh my God, Oh my God". My friend Kimberley screamed, pointing at the TV. Half of her face was covered with a pillow and the other half was trying to get a glimpse of the horror movie showing on the TV.
"Kim, will you stop yelling ". I yelled back at her.
"Ahhhhhhhhhh". A shrill scream came from the TV and Kim at the same time.
That's it. I thought to myself before getting up and switching off the TV.
"No, no, no. Jayyy". She whined throwing the pillow of her face.
"Well you wouldn't stop screaming". I retorted, turning on the lights in the living room.
"Ughh, you're such a buzzkill". She muttered under her breath.
" I knew it was a bad idea to watch a horror movie with you".
Kimberley has a weird relationship with horror movies. She claims to not be afraid of them yet when we're actually watching them, her actions say a whole different story.
There was a knock on the door and Kim went to check it out whilst I cleaned up. There were chips and popcorn everywhere. Thanks a lot Kim.
"Penny?" I heard Kim asked. Moments later, Penelope sat on one of the couch with tears streaming down her face and Kim kneeling in front of her.
I ditched what I was doing and stood by her.
"Woah, Penny why are you crying and aren't you supposed to be on a date with Jack?" I asked with worry.
My question seemed to upset her more as her sobs became louder.
" Why what happened?" Kimberley asked taking Penny's fingers into her hands.
"Jack...He...he.." she burst into another round of tears. Her phone began to ring from her clutch. She took in a deep breath although the tears were still streaming down her face.
With shaking hands, she brought her phone out of the clutch and the name Babe flashed on the screen. She ended the call and looked up, trying to stop the tears from flowing.
"What did he do." Kimberley asked, a little upset to see Penny crying.
" He cheated on me". Penny wailed, a fresh batch of tears streaming down her face.
"He did what? How, when, why?" I questioned, still shocked by the revelation.
"You remember how I got a text from him earlier today, telling me to come over". Penny said as she tried to keep her voice from wavering.
"Well when I went, I heard noises from his room and I went out to check only to see him fucking Ashley Fisher". She completed as more tears made an appearance.
"I am going to kill him!". Kimberley shouted, getting up furiously and pulling a pink gun from one of the drawers in front of the TV.
She rushed towards the door but before she could step out I held tightly unto her waist, pulling her back inside.
"No, let me go. I'll show that dick what I'm made of when I shoot him right in his scrawny balls". She yelled wrestling against me.
"Kimberley, no. You are not killing anyone". I said sternly, closing the door.
"I'm not going to kill him". She said with a short chuckle "I'm just going to shoot his balls!" She yelled running towards the door again.
"Kim no, please". Penny said. " I don't want you to get into trouble because of him".
"But what he did to you was not nice. I actually thought he was a decent guy". Kim said still angry.
"Three years. Three fudging years together ". Penny said sadly.
"He deserves to rot in the pit of hell". Kim said going to sit by her. "And would someone just block that scumbag's number". Kim gestured to the ringing phone.
"I don't wanna talk to him Jay." Penny said looking at me through a fresh batch of tears.
I took the phone and silenced it as Kim tried to comfort Penny.
I grabbed my keys and wore my flip-flops. "Where are you going?". Kim asked looking up at me.
" I'm just heading to the store. I'll be back soon". I made my way outside and sat in my car.
I couldn't believe Jack. He and Penelope had been together since our final year in college. He had been so sweet and charming and he loved Penny to bits, right? Did he love her? Cause to date someone for three years is a lot. Thirty six good months with someone and to cheat on the person just like that.
What exactly was he thinking? Or was it all a little overwhelming for him? And what about Penny. Poor Penny. Everyone knows how sweet and kind she is. She did not deserve any of this.
Men will always be men. Why can't they keep their dicks in their pants.
My mind was filled with endless questions and thoughts as I made my way to the store.
Sighing, I got out of the car and entered the store.
I bought three big tubs of ice cream: chocolate for me, cookie dough for Kim and plane ole vanilla for Penny.
After I paid for the ice cream, I made my way back home and I was not ready for the scene I saw.
Jack was on the floor with blood trailing down his nose. Kim straddled his back with her gun pointing towards his temple and penny stood in the corner with tears streaming down her face.
"What the actual fuck is going on in here". I screamed which caught all of their attention.
I placed the ice cream on the centre table and glared at Kim. " Get off of him Kim".
"Thank you". Jack groaned. Kim reluctantly got off of him but still had the gun pointed at his temple. Jack laid on the floor as he stared at Kim as if she was crazy which she actually was.
"Well, is someone going to talk". I said once again breaking the silence in the room.
"Well this douche thought it was a good idea to show up after what he did to Penny". Kim replied.
" Kim, will you put the fucking gun away". I snapped at her.
"Get out Jack". I opened the door.
"No I am not leaving until Penelope hears me out." He declared.
"Can't you see she doesn't want to talk to you". Kim said gesturing towards Penny.
"She doesn't have to talk. I will do the talking ". Jack pleaded.
"Jack, get the fuck out of my house". I retorted. technically, all three of us house but you get what i mean.
" Please Jayna, I just want to speak to her". He pleaded.
I was about to say something when Penny talked.
"Fine. Say whatever you want to say and leave". She cleaned her tears and sat in the couch.
"Lucky bastard". Kim muttered, keeping the gun in the drawer from which she took it .
I closed the door and made my way towards the dining table.
Jack stared at Kim and i uncomfortably.
"Can we speak in private". He muttered.
" No. Whatever you have to say to me, you can say it infront of them". Penny replied coldly.
"Yh dick". Kim said.
Jack sighed and began.
" I'm sorry, babe. I'm really ,really sorry. I didn't mean it and Ashley means nothing to me I swear. She was nothing more than a mistake." Jake said trying to take Penny's hands into his. She pulled her hands away and looked at him with tears running down her face.
"Why did you do it", she questioned silently. He said nothing looking at the floor ashamed.
"Why the heck did you do it Jack". Penny suddenly screamed and stood up.
"Was I not enough? Was i not? And out of all people in Newyork, out of all the girls, you cheated on me with Ashley Fisher ". She said the last part quietly as more tears streamed down her face.
Ashley Fisher has hated Penelope from high-school. She hates her and made sure that Penny knew it. Unluckily for Penny, she met Ashley again at an internship and it turns out that they are both interning for the same spot.
Jack was well aware of the bad blood between those two.
" I'm sorry babe. It wasn't my intention to sleep with her. I swear I still love you. I love you".
Penny let out a humourless laugh and walked towards the door. She opened it and stared at Jack.
"Your five minutes is up and so as this relationship ". She said calmly.
"What" . He asked surprised. Heck even I was surprised.
Penny was the quiet one among my friend group. She always cared about people's feelings and was always ready to compromise. So she breaking up with Jack so calmly and asking him to leave so coldly was quite a shock.
"But I said I was sorry. You can't break up with me". Jack said and one could clearly tell he was getting angry. He walked towards Penny and held her in a firm grip and the fear in Penny's eyes were not missing.
I gasped in shock as he digged his nails into her arm and whispered something into her ear.
Penny pushed him and slapped him hard. Before he could react, Kim had the gun on his head again.
"Walk the fuck outta this house". Kim said, venom dripping from her words.
Jack looked at us as if he couldn't believe it and left with a scoff.

Penny slammed the door after him and we all stood there in silence.
"How long have you had the gun Kim". I said breaking the awkward silence.
"Eversince Papa Barca last visited" . She answered referring to her dad.
That made sense. It was no secret among us three that Kim's father was into some shady business.
We all collapsed on the chair soon after and just stared off into space.
"Has Jack ever been a bit abusive in your relationship ". Kim asked and I knew very well that she was referring to the way he grabbed her.
"Well sometimes he gets a bit angry and gets a little grabsy". Penny sighed.
"I can't believe I slapped him, heck, I can't even believe i broke up with him". Penny said with a little laugh at the end, amazed by what she did.
Kim and I laughed with her and I felt a heavy weight being taken off my chest.
"I love you girls". Penny said after a while.
"We love you too". Kim and I replied simultaneously and we all burst out laughing.
