"What was that? Why was he being so sweet and kind? As if I don't know people like him. All they want is one thing and for that they would do anything even if it means, playing the goody two shoes. But do I have choice now. I have to be with him. He is my husband after all and I have agreed for that I can't back out. Can I? No Sanya no, you won't you have never done that and you won't do it this time too. I will just make it clear to him, and then we will see what his true colours are.", she prepped herself for the upcoming. He might be her husband, he was her husband but she couldn't help but have suspicious eyes for him. Anyone being too good to her or kind to her never appealed as she was aware it was all a sham and would be over in short time. She has learned it over the years that kindness was pretence to mask up the reality of human nature. They are selfish and self centred. She knew.
She hissed as she took the pins out of her bun. She could feel the burn on her scalp because of the bun tightly knit and also of the stunt her 'mother' pulled on her. Untying her blouse, she looked herself in the mirror and sighed. This was her reality and it was better it stayed hidden. Her eyes reached to her shoulder, that had a faint imprint of Sheetal's nails and all she felt was do much worse to her, but knew she couldn't. She wasn't powerful to overpower her yet and she wanted that so bad.
"Its all right. She will get her Karma and it will be me delivering her what she rightly deserve", she murmured, splashed the water on her now no makeup face and breathed, before exiting the washroom.
Siddhant who had been intrigued by her the moment he saw, was now pacing the lengths and breadth of the room. He had observed her whole night and one thing he was able to summarize was, she wasn't a fan of any touch on her body. Her flinching to every touch around made the statement. Had it been the reaction only for his touch he would have finalized the reason to be them being strangers in a relationship that wasn't a passing relation but one which was to stay, for long, for forever.
"I should have first courted her and tried to know her. Probably that would have eased her. But it isn't just about me. Even with Maa, the reaction was same. Does that mean something or am I over reading the situation", he thought and his train of thoughts broke, as he heard the click of the knob followed by the clinking of the bangles and anklet. He could get used the symphony that her feet and hand created.
"I will get changed", he told her and soon disappeared behind the big brown mahogany door. Sanya decide to stay mum. She watched him get inside and was happy they were having less interaction. She knew she has resolved to work in this marriage but it doesn't have to be on the very same night. And then it dawned on her- The wedding night. It was their wedding night, and the mere thought terrified her to bones. She felt herself trembling, and shivering and dizzy. Grabbing the sides of the big couch she steadied herself but to no avail, as she heard the door click open, and Siddhant come out, with his clothes changed into a t-shirt and a lower.
Taking a seat on the couch she pretended to busy herself in her phone. Her hands started trembling even more, as the space beside her had a dip.
"Sanya", Siddhant called her as softly as he could. He didn't want to scare her or create any discomfort for her. She hummed, keeping the phone away.
"Are you okay?" he confirmed getting a nod as a answer.
"You can speak you know", he tried but she didn't react. Her fears coming true as he uttered the next word.
"It is our wedding night and I kn..." he began.
"Don't touch me please", she cut him off mid sentence creating more space between them. He looked at her amused.
"Hey relax, relax. Okay! Listen to what I have to say. I know it is our wedding night. But that is it. I want you and me to take slow steps. This relationship that we have begun, it needs to be understood first, build and then consummated. I just wanted to say that I wish to share my thoughts with you, my feelings with you and get to know you and I hope you could do the same. Yeah? Lets know each other first, understand each other first. Okay?", she for the first time since their wedding took place, looked at him the way he should be. Like her husband. It didn't take her much effort to accept that he was a handsome man. His words were soothing to her terrified self, and she was just thankful to him for being understanding.
