"Bhabhi I missed you. I mean everyone missed you but let me tell you that the person who missed you the most was bhaiya. It would be best if you looked at his face during breakfast... I felt bad for him for a moment. But bhaiya you could have waited for one more night. Bhabhi would have been home tomorrow anyway. Impatient without her...huh?" Anu hugged Sanya as she entered the home along with his Bhaiya. She also did not let go of the chance to tease her brother. Vidit was quick to join her.
"What made you so impatient bhai? Did you have trouble sleeping last night without bhabhi?" He questioned wiggling his brows at him, with a smirk.
"Shut up you both.. and take this to stuff your mouth" Siddhant reprimanded giving them the bag with dessert, Sanya got for them on the way home.
"Vidit, Anu don't trouble them and let her rest. She must be tired." His badi Maa instructed. The elders had questions in their eyes and minds but Siddhant had already informed them about Sanya's return and them to not ask anything.
"Maa, we are not troubling Bhabhi we are just keeping her informed how bhai lived a few hours without her", Anu continued, making both Siddhant and Sanya fluster and red.
"Shhh....go back to your room and study", Anu was ordered and she with a teasing smile at his brother left to her room. Vidit opened his mouth to add something to the banter, but was hit by Siddhant even before saying any word. He huffed and glared at him accusingly leaving the place.
"Maa, I am sorry", Sanya apologized clasping her mother in law's hands.
"Why beta?", her mother unable to understand asked.
"I am sorry because I didn't give the same importance that I should to the values, I really tried but I was not able to. I am sorry" Preeti smiled at her and patted her cheek lovingly.
"The tradition was to visit your family and you did, staying or not was not in question, beta. So you did very well and also tradition could be changed with time right",Preeti's empathy and affection towards Sanya surpassed any material extravagance in existence. Despite having all that life could offer, Sanya had never experienced such warmth and understanding before. She longed for this kind of love, for someone who could grasp her unspoken thoughts in moments of turmoil. In a new environment, surrounded by unfamiliar faces she had only recently encountered, Sanya discovered what had been missing her entire life. The affliction of the morning incident and the affection shown towards her now, left her feeling emotionally overwhelmed, leading her to do something she wouldn't have considered otherwise - she embraced Preeti, closing her eyes tightly to conceal the tears threatening to escape.
"Thank you, Maa. Thank you so much", was all she could say with her throat itching in want to let the cry out.
"Don't thank me. Kids don't thank their mothers. Right. Now have dinner and rest. Tomorrow is Sunday and so we will have some girls' time", she suggested.
"We had our dinner out, Maa", Siddhant informed, seeing Sanya hesitate to say no to the kind offer.
"See, choti Maa, dinner dates and all", they heard Vidit, who in reaction to his words received glares from the elders and a subtle smile from his Bhabhi. She was happy.
"I am leaving...I am leaving. It's okay. They should....okay bye", Vidit whined and left back to his room.
"Okay rest now", Preeti said and everyone left for their rooms.
"Biwi, want some dessert!!", Siddhant offered as they entered their room. Sanya looked at him not sure if she understood him. They had their dinner and thus she was full, so she shook her head, declining his offer.
"Are you sure about that?", he questioned again, showing her the box of colorful cupcakes. Sanya's eyes lit up at the sight of those colorful delicacies. While getting the dessert packed for the others, Siddhant noticed her looking longingly at the cupcakes and also hesitance to ask for them. He didn't know the reason for her hesitance but knew one thing, she was eating them tonight.
