"He's going to die you know" Sam ambushed me as I left work late that evening
"What, who?"
"Dean he's going to get dragged kicking and screaming to hell if we don't get our hands on that sword"
Sam looked tired. He'd changed from his suit to a pair of rumpled jeans, and  t-shirt paired with a flannel. He had dark circles under his eyes.
"But whats wrong with him, Dean looked healthy enough to me Sam" I asked trying to think if I'd missed any signs of illness.
"He's not ill Amy, he made a deal to save my life and now his time is running out"
"I don't understand, he made a deal, what kind of deal, with who?" Sam's words weren't making any sence. It was only the earnest look on his face that had me beliving his words.
"Dean made a deal with a crossroads demon, he gave up a his soul to save me. Now we're running out of time, the Onimaru Kunisuna was our last hope, we were gonna to use it to kill Lilith, the Demon that holds Dean's contract" Sam's eyes looked hopeless like he'd just realised that he wasn't going to be able to save his brother. Demons, deals, none of it was making any sense. I knew monsters existed and Dean and his family hunted them, that was his job. But demons, selling souls, Hell, none of that could be real, could it? "I need a drink" I huffed "come on there's a bar up the street, your gonna tell me everything"
Sam smiled at me, a small glimmer of hope sparked in his eyes.
"Oh and Sam, your buying"

Dean looked up from the medical show he'd been watching on the small motel t.v as Sam came through the door.
"Where've you been" he asked, getting up to turn the t.v off.
"We're back on Dean, were gonna get the sword tomorrow night and use it to kill Lilith" Sam sat down at the table and pulled his laptop towards him "you haven't cancelled with Leslie yet have you?"
"No" Dean's tone was cold
"No, you haven't cancelled with Leslie yet" Sam purposefully misunderstood his brothers words.
"No were not going to steal the sword you saw how much it upset Amy. That damn sword stays where it is"
"Well about that" Sam laughed nervously "I kind of ran in to her today, she's changed her mind, she's in"
Dean stormed across the room and laid both hands on the table while leaning menacingly towards his brother "What did you do Sam"
"I told her OK Dean" Sam's eyes flitted around the room, unable to meet his brothers angry stare. "I told her everything, about Mom and Yellow eyes, I told her about Dad and Jess and I told her about your deal"
"Fuck you Sam you had no right to tell her any of that. That wasn't your decision to make!" Dean exploded.
"Well someone had to, were running out of time Dean" Sam stood up and faced off to his brother "I mean it's like you don't even care that you're gonna die, you run around chasing any thing in a skirt and looking for new cases. While in the mean time the clocks ticking I spend every waking moment trying to come up with a way to save you and we finally find something and what you throw it away on account of some girl you bearly met when you were a kid"
Sam sat down on the edge of one of the single motel bed. He put his head in his hands exhausted by his outburst. Dean sat next to him and leaned forwards with his elbows on his knees. "I care Sam, in fact I'm fucking terrified, of course I don't want to die. But not if it puts Amy at risk, she's not just another girl Sam"
Both brothers eyes were gleaming with unshed tears.
"I  know she's not. I shouldn't have said that" Sam apologised "but she wants to do this, for you" There was a moment of silence before Dean spoke "OK then what's the plan"
Sam expanded what he had in mind, he would go as Amy's date and while she and Dean caused a distraction he would use her card to get upstairs and steal the sword. Once stashed in the impala he would go back to the party. By the time anyone realised it was missing the two of them would be long gone.
"I don't like it Sammy. I should be the one to steal it"
"I'm perfectly capable of" Sam started but Dean didn't let him finish. "I know you are, but it will lead to easily back to Amy, you're her date, you need to be seen at all times"
"Well that makes sense, look we'll iron out the details together. But I'm telling you Dean I have a good feeling about this"
Dean couldn't match his brothers optimism "Well just don't get your hopes up to high were Winchesters remember since when has anything come easy for us"
