So lmk what you guys think of this chapter.
I decided not to make Sophie a loser because in the books she almost kills so she can stand up to a bully.
———————————————————————Fast forward to the next day, and Sophie was in her room, staring into her closet with a mix of excitement and dread. Biana, who had heard all about the coffee "hangout" with Keefe, had insisted on helping her pick out an outfit. "You've got to wear something that says 'I'm cool, but also totally available for friendship'," she said with a wink, holding up some jeans and a thin long sleeve.
Sophie eyed the shirt Biana had chosen for her. It was a cute, blue long sleeve that she'd bought for a photoshoot but never worn But then again, it was chilly out, and the shirt was pretty thin. "You think I'll be okay without a jacket?" she asked, already knowing the answer.
Biana winked at her. "Trust me, you never wear one when you're with guys. It's like an unspoken rule. They'll offer you theirs, and it's just so... romantic," she said with a dreamy sigh.
Sophie couldn't help but feel a little skeptical. "But Keefe said he just wants to be friends," she reminded her.
Biana tossed the shirt onto the bed, her eyes twinkling. "Keefe said that because you tried to confirm he didn't want to date you, now he thinks you're not into him. You self sabotaged."
Sophie felt a knot form in her stomach. Could it be that she had accidentally pushed Keefe away by being too eager to clarify they were just friends? She had never been good at reading the subtle cues of romantic interest. "Maybe," she murmured, feeling a sinking feeling in her chest.
The next day, she arrived at the coffee shop early, her eyes scanning the bustling crowd for any sign of Keefe. She had picked a spot in the corner, where the light was dimmer, in case somebody with a camera got the wrong idea of them, she hated the paparazzi. Though she threw in a pair of sunglasses to try and keep anybody from noticing it was her.
Her heart skipped a beat as she spotted a hooded figure approaching her table, the sunglasses hiding their eyes. She tensed up, ready to call for security, but as the person got closer, she recognized the mischievous smirk playing on their lips. "Keefe, seriously?" she exclaimed, her voice a mix of exasperation and amusement.
their fits)
Keefe pulled off his hood and sunglasses, his eyes dancing with laughter. "Had to keep the paparazzi guessing," he said with a shrug, taking a seat across from her. "You know how it is."
Sophie couldn't help but smile, his playfulness was infectious. "Yeah, I do," she said, thinking of the countless times she'd had to dodge cameras with her parents.
The barista called out their drink orders, and Keefe leaned back in his chair, watching her closely. "So, what do you want to talk about?"
Sophie took a sip of her americano on the rocks, feeling the warmth spread through her body. (remind you of anything?) "I don't know," she said, her voice a little shaky. "I just thought it'd be nice to get to know you outside of school."
