Allison stared at one of her soulmates, her heart shattering at the sight, knowing she couldn't help him. Kate would probably do something to both of them and then where would Allison be?
"What are you doing to him? Is that gonna kill him?" Allison asked, taking a step forward.
"Oh, come on, kiddo. Don't get all ethical on me now." Kate said, exasperated.
"What is he?" Allison asked, faking ignorance, not taking her eyes off of Derek, who was looking at her in full understanding. He knew she couldn't do anything any more than he could at this moment, and it broke both of their hears.
"Shapeshifter. Lycan. Werewolf. To me? He's just another dumb animal." Kate shrugged before waving Allison closer, pulling at Derek's mouth to show his fangs. "Come here-- See these right here? These are canines, also known as fangs. Made for the tearing and rending of flesh. Not something you'd find on those cute, leaf-eating herbivores, is it?" Kate joked and Allison gave her an appalled look.
"This is a joke to you?" Allison asked, frowning, and Kate laughed.
"Sweetheart, there are Werewolves running around in the world. Everything's a joke to me. How else do you think I stay sane?"
"I don't see how anyone can be sane if this is their night job." Allison said, shaking her head. "Is it on?" Allison asked, looking at the electricity.
"No." Kate said and Allison nodded before grabbing the fence and hoisting herself up a bit more. Allison moved so Kate could see it, but she wrapped her pinky around Derek's, trying to give some form of comfort.
"So how does something like this come to be?" Allison asked the woman.
"There are a lot of different legends. Lots of different ways. But this one, he was born like this." Kate told her and Allison tilted her head slightly.
"So he didn't choose this?" Allison asked, turning to the woman. "He's an innocent with something that was forced onto him?"
"That doesn't matter. What matters is that he is one." Kate told her and Allison nodded.
"Huh. Your blue eyes are pretty." Allison told the man who raised a brow at her, his face hard but his eyes soft.
"And do you know what they mean?" Kate asked her. "It means he killed someone. Their eyes start out yellow. If they kill someone they turn blue. If they're a leader of the pack, their eyes are red." Kate said before looking at Allison with a raised brow. "Still that they're pretty?"
"I like blue." Allison shrugged, jumped down.
A while more and Kate was walking Allison out of the place and closing the door.
"So, it was him at the high school? And all the other animal attacks?" Allison asked her, frowning.
"There's actually three of them-- another younger one like him, called a Beta, and then there's the Alpha. Alpha's the pack leader-- bigger, stronger, nastier. Those are the real ugly motherf--" Kate started but Allison cut her off.
"When were they gonna tell me?" Allison asked her, and Kate shook her head.
"They still haven't decided if they're gonna tell you..."
"Why?" Allison asked.
"Let's just say, if you react badly when you find out...? Not good." Kate told her and Allison looked a bit offended, but also confused.
"What do you mean, "not good?""
"They don't think that you can handle it. They look at you and they see this frightened little girl who's gonna run crying in the corner when she finds out the truth. Me? What I see? Natural talent. Allison, you said you wanted to feel more powerful, right? Now's your chance." Kate told her and Allison frowned.
