The one thing New Yorkers could count on to be consistent was the city's weather. Consistent meaning that during the winter, it was extremely cold and during the summer, it was sweltering hot. As soon as this aspect about the beautiful state and city that bore its name is accepted and always expected, plans can be made accordingly. For today, Jungkook was experiencing New York City heat. He thought he would melt from the sun beaming outside.

His air conditioner was running in the Airbnb and made the modern space bearable. But he dreaded having to step a foot outdoors. It was barely cool inside. Jungkook could only imagine how hot it would be when he'd have to leave for his appointment.

In the serene ambiance of the condo he had secured through an app, he experienced a profound sense of comfort, a rare feeling of tranquility that had eluded him during this tumultuous time. And a trying time it was for right now.

The condo's design exuded a chic, ultra-modern aesthetic that immediately conjured memories of his parents' luxurious home, adorned in sophisticated hues of grays, blacks, and beiges. It was evident that this apartment he had stayed the night in had been meticulously curated to cater to discerning business men and women who frequented Airbnb rentals, with an atmosphere that felt refreshingly sterile. However, the space was undeniably gender neutral in its appeal.

It was located in the upper east portion of Manhattan. This was the part of New York Jungkook had grown up in before his life fell apart. He wanted to leave the area as soon as possible but had to take care of business first.

Jungkook took a look in the master suite's floor to ceiling decorative mirror. He had finished his light makeup that included a little mascara and his favorite cherry lip gloss. His hair was in a messy man-bun on top of his head. There was no way he would leave the apartment with his semi-lengthy hair down as hot as it was outside.

He had put on tan khaki dress pants that were fitted. The matching jacket made it a pants suit. Both pieces clinged to his muscles, enhancing his slender but smooth curves, accentuating his thin waist. He paired them with patent leather GIANVITO ROSSI tan and dark brown loafers. Jungkook loved a luxurious pair of shoes. Just because he was living a tragic life at the moment, didn't mean he had to look tragic.

Recent circumstances had changed his life abruptly - forced him into adulting in survival mode. However, as he thought about it, his parents had always taught him to live this way. At any given time, he had learned to take a flight-attitude to a means of survival. He was taught not to get caught up on lifelong relationships. Why start a friendship or relationship if you could be gone tomorrow? His parents made him feel someone was always out to harm him and so he made decisions accordingly. He had always been preparing to experience life on the run.

It was sad that he was used to this type of adulting. He'd been prepared for it since he was a small child. But recently, the weight of responsibility had thrust him into the world of adulthood faster than he had anticipated, but he was determined to face it head-on. What else was there to do?

The last few days had taken its toll on him, though. He had lost a lot in his short life time but the past week had been the culmination of what he assumed was the devil's plan for his earthly downfall. And now the loner was left even more alone than he had felt before. With no where to turn. With no one to turn to. All hope he clung to was the need to follow the plans his father left for him in searching for an old family friend and lawyer for instructions and clarity.

He would keep his eyes wide open; get close to no one; trust no one; and wouldn't stay too long in one place. Again, he'd been trained all of his life for this.
