𝐌𝐲 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 and I flip it over to see what it is. I'm thinking it's probably a text from one of my teammates about practice, but that's not what it is.
I see a text from my manager. Which doesn't happen much right now because it's the middle of the season and my life is just basketball. Since it's Olympic break and most of us are in Paris I guess there's a little more happening.
Jewell nosily looks at my phone and I just shake my head at her.
The text is about how the coach from UConn was wondering if I would be open to being an assistant coach when season ends. Things like this happen to players after they go pro but it's usually for the team they graduated from.
"Huh, Geno must really like you to reach out like this." Jewell says.
That catches the attention of Diana and Stewie. They both look at each other and then come closer to where J and I are sitting.
"What was that?" Diana asks me.
"Oh. Geno just asked if I would want to come work with the girls at all. I'm not sure if it's something I want to do though."
They both roll their eyes at me.
"Why wouldn't you take it?"
"Well first of all it would be during my break. Time off is important. Isn't that what you guys tell me all the time?"
"Don't use our words against us. If it becomes too much then just take a step back. You won't know if you don't try." Diana does have a point.
I guess I could always back down once I do it for a little. What's the worst that can happen?
I send my manager a text telling her that I'd be down. Just to get me the details whenever.
Who needs a break after an intense season of basketball anyways?
"Guys get your asses up. You're acting like we're not about to play for a gold medal right now." A'ja comes in and reprimands us like we're children.
"Yes mom." I tell her.
Let's go win gold I guess?
