Captain Garruk watched the trainees return from their task, his sharp eyes scanning the group. Many of the wolves clutched vibrant, fresh purple water lilies. But among them, a small group lagged behind, their flowers wilted, and their heads hung low. Rose was among them, her flower limp in her hand, and she was the last to arrive. Her heart sank as she saw the disappointment in Garruk's eyes.

"Out of 200, only 15 of you failed to bring back fresh lilies," Captain Garruk said sternly, his voice carrying over the group. "Pack your bags and go home."

The words hit Rose like a blow. Around her, the other failed members looked devastated. One of the wolves, his shoulders slumped, muttered, "How can I show my face in my pack after failing in training?"

Captain Garruk noticed their crestfallen faces and, with a sigh, reconsidered his decision. Before the despair could settle in, Garruk continued, "However, you don't have to return in disgrace. You can choose to stay and help with chores-office work, cleaning, cooking. It's up to you."

Rose's heart raced. Was this the end of her dream? She didn't want to spend her time doing chores while others trained to fight. She wanted to be a soldier, to kill those bloodsuckers that threatened her pack.

A surge of determination coursed through her veins. Rose took a deep breath and let the energy of her wolf side rise within her. Her claws extended as she partially transformed. Without a word, she turned and sprinted back toward the hill.

"Did you see that?" a member whispered, watching her. There were surprised gasps and murmurs as the others noticed her partial transformation, a skill few in their battalion had mastered.

Minutes later, Rose returned, her breath heavy but steady. She held a fresh water lily in her hand, its petals vibrant and unwilted. She walked straight up to the chemist, handed him the flower, and then faced Captain Garruk.

"Captain, may I continue with the army training?" she asked, her voice steady, though her heart pounded in her chest.

Captain Garruk smiled, impressed by Rose's determination. "That was a pleasant surprise, Ronald," he said, loud enough for everyone to hear. "Very few in this entire battalion-about a thousand members-can achieve partial transformation. Alpha Chris will be pleased to hear another member has learned it."

"Thank you, Captain."

He nodded, his expression softening slightly. "With more training and good food, you'll increase your muscle mass. Tell me, are you hunting in the forest every day?"

Rose shook her head. "No, Captain. I only hunt once in a while. Mostly, I've been eating the meals served in camp."

"Hunting is important for you," Garruk said firmly. "It's not just about food; it's about instincts, exercise, and nourishment your body truly needs. Keep up the good work, Ronald."

Rose nodded, her resolve hardening. "I will, Captain. Thank you."

Garruk gave a brief nod of approval. "Get back to training, soldier."

As Garruk finished speaking, a wave of clapping erupted from the soldiers. Rose, still catching her breath, looked up to see her teammates rushing toward her. Brutus slapped her back with a grin, Quill gave her a nod of approval, and Thorne punched her shoulder lightly in a playful gesture.

"You did it, Ronald!" Brutus exclaimed, his voice filled with genuine excitement.

Quill added, "That was incredible! How did you manage it?"

A group of soldiers gathered around her, their faces lit with curiosity and admiration. "Show us how you did it," one of them said eagerly. "Teach us, too!"

Rose, still in shock from the sudden attention, felt a sense of pride and belonging she hadn't experienced before. She smiled, trying to suppress the elation bubbling inside her. "I'd be happy to," she replied.
