BLAKE ༄ ‧₊˚ ★
I leap out of the car and into the downpour, the cold rain instantly soaking through my clothes as Lydia follows close behind. Stiles and Scott are already moving, carefully hauling Derek's limp body out of the car and into the animal clinic. We follow them into the building.
They move as fast as they can, running through the animal clinic and placing Derek on the examination table. Deaton runs into the room, staring at Derek's face. "Wow," he says.
"Wow? Wow as in 'I've seen this before and I know exactly what to do' kind of wow?" Stiles says. "Cause that's the kind of wow we're hoping for."
"I think you might be overestimating my abilities," Deaton replies.
I look at Derek, moving my hand to touch his arm. "He's freezing," I say quietly, more to myself.
Deaton furrows his brows, grabbing Derek's hand and feeling it.
"Do you think this is permanent?" Scott asks as Deaton opens Derek's eyes and shines a light in them.
"I'm not sure a medical diagnosis is even adequate," Deaton says, glancing at Scott. "This is well beyond my experience."
"So what are we supposed to do with him?" I ask.
"Until he wakes up, probably not much," Deaton replies. "It might be best to leave him with me. He'll be safe here."
"You mean from Kate?" Stiles questions.
Deaton nods, his expression serious. "If she's alive and she is what you say she is, she won't be able to walk past that gate."
I shake my head. "But why would she do this to him?"
Deaton's gaze hardens. "Knowing Kate, it's probably for a reason that won't be any good for anyone but her."
"And bad for everyone else," Stiles adds as he rubs his hands together nervously.
Deaton nods slowly. "You guys should probably go home. He doesn't look to be in any danger. So maybe the rest of you should get some sleep? It is a school night," he looks between the four of us. "And you all need to start taking care of your own lives again."
"Someone should stay with you," Scott says quickly.
Lydia steps closer. "I'll stay. My grades are fine... despite missing a few classes."
