"I'm not sharing my basement," Malia blurts out, crossing her arms stubbornly.

"Actually, it's my basement," Lydia corrects, arching an eyebrow. "And my mom noticed how you tore it up last time."

"Hey, she's still learning," I chime in, throwing Malia a supportive glance.

Scott shifts the weight of his backpack, gripping the straps tighter. "But, we're gonna use the boathouse for Liam. It's got support beams. We can chain him to one of them."

"But how do we get him out to the lake house if he doesn't trust us?" Kira asks, her brow furrowed in concern.

Stiles shrugs. "I say if it keeps him from murdering someone we just chloroform the little bastard and throw him in the lake."

Malia's hand shoots up. "I'm in."

I groan, rubbing my temples. "Wow, the first time you two actually agree on something, and it's about potential murder."

"We're not killing or kidnapping him!" Scott cuts in.

Lydia steps forward, her arms folded as she considers the situation. "Then let's be smarter," she pauses. "We tell him there's a party and invite him."

Stiles raises an eyebrow skeptically. "So, you're going to ask out a freshman?"

Lydia scoffs, nodding decisively. "No I'm done with teenage boys. But, if we're playing a trick on someone, let's use the trickster." She turns, locking her eyes on Kira.

"Who? Me? No way," Kira's eyes widen as she shakes her head. "Not me."

"Yes, you," Lydia insists. Then she turns to me, a smirk tugging at the corners of her lips. "And you. It seems to me that Liam likes you."

I blink in confusion. "Huh? Just because he didn't sucker punch me across the face or hit me with a chair does not mean he likes me."

Lydia rolls her eyes, clearly not buying my denial. But I'm being serious. "Out of everyone here, he might trust you the most," she presses. Then, she glances back at Kira. "You know what they call a female fox? A vixen."

"Me?" Kira repeats, still in disbelief, pointing at herself.

Lydia nods confidently. "You two can pull this off," she says, her gaze flicking between us.

Stiles, arms crossed, looks between me and Lydia, his expression tight. I can practically feel the jealousy radiating off him, and it makes me smile despite the situation.
