Derek sits tensely in his chair, his gaze hard and suspicious as he asks, "Why would I go anywhere with you?"
"There was an accident. You lost some memory, but we can help you get it back," Scott replies.
Derek's eyes narrow. "How much memory?"
"Mm a lot," I shrug.
"But you can trust us," Scott says, lowering his head as his eyes glow a bright red.
Derek's expression shifts slightly. "Okay, you're an Alpha," he says, then turns his attention to me me, his eyes cold and questioning. "And who's she? Who're you?" He points at me and Stiles.
"Oh, we're the people keeping you out of jail," Stiles quips, his tone dry but serious.
Derek shakes his head, clearly unimpressed.
"Let us help you," Scott says calmly.
"No." Derek replies bluntly.
I roll my eyes and mutter under my breath. "Well, it's nice to know he's exactly the same, no matter the age.
Stiles stifles a laugh, but Derek's sharp hearing catches my comment. "What?" he snaps, his eyes narrowing at me.
"Nothing," I say quickly, raising my hands in surrender.
"Dude, you almost tore apart two cops back there. You need to listen to us. And that starts with 'no's, that's no claws, no wolf man. You got that?" Stiles says, ticking each point off on his fingers.
Derek scoffs but nods. "I'm fine as long as it's not on a full moon."
Scott's eyebrows shoot up in surprise. "You still have trouble with the full moon?"
"I said I'm fine."
"All right, you coming with us or not?" Stiles asks.
"You want me trust you?" Derek asks, staring at Stiles. "Where's my family?"
The room falls silent as I glance at Scott who lets out a small sigh. "There was a fire. And..." Scott pauses, scanning Derek's face. "They're not here anymore. They're fine. Just had to move out of Beacon Hills. And we're gonna take you to them, as soon as we figure out how to get your memories back."
