OMNISCIENT POV-
A few weeks had passed and not a day went by without Kevin and Carmen talking on the phone, most of their conversation was Carmen telling Kevin about her and Kevin informing Carmen on his case.
Sometimes Kevin didn't even want to talk about his case he just wanted Carmen to talk his ears off just so he didn't have to think about his ongoing case, although it wasn't going bad he just didn't want to think about something that holds negative weight over his mind.
So being able to be on the phone and be dragged out of his reality was something that he was grateful for as it made each day easier to live and get on with this minor setback to go back to Carmen who was holding it down for him even though they weren't together Carmen couldn't bare to be with someone else.
It was harder to fall for other people considering that she has met Kevin who has ticked off many boxes for her, she didn't want to forget about Kevin and move on and she didn't want Kevin to be with someone who isn't herself. They both knew that when Kevin gets released everything is going to go back to how it once was.
Every night Carmen grinned hard as hell when Kevin called her as each day passed she would wait til after 8PM to hear his voice and see his face, she couldn't call him because she didn't know what could be going on at any time so she didn't want to mess that up for him.
Even if he took an hour to call she wouldn't text, she would busy herself with something to do until Kevin called her, especially when Kevin had told her that some nights they be getting random cell checks even after lockdown time.
They do it to try catch them off guard to confiscate contraband which could either lead to more time on their sentence depending on if they were caught with drugs etc, or they get time in solitary confinement.
The way guards dealt with the inmates were very immoral but due to the prison having less guards they treated the prisoners a certain way to avoid riots or them acting up and Kevin wholeheartedly despised this.
Being in prison made it harder to control his anger especially with how the guards treated him, he kept his mind on Carmen and it would calm him down just to the point where he wouldn't react like he did when he first got there, he lived in solitary confinement.
But now he couldn't deal with three weeks in solitary confinement without talking to Carmen he felt like he would go insane.
They never texted either, Kevin only texted Carmen the day he had got his phone so she would pick up the phone and not decline any of his calls.
In the next few days was his first court hearing and he was nervous because he didn't know the evidence that the prosecutors had against him.
Both lawyers told him that they have dealt with harder cases that pleaded the defendants innocence so Kevin shouldn't be worried, he had alibis and more than evidence to prove his innocence.
Due to it being a crazy process to get first his court date he couldn't spend more days behind bars waiting on his trial to prove that he didn't do the crime.
It was almost like the authorities knew that Kevin didn't do the crime, his own stupidity shown in the lives of taunting Munna and Foolie it was clear that they were watching him and has been watching him for a while.
