Leaving

The next day Athena drives to the BAU with a bed feeling in her stomach but then she reminds herself that she has to do it, she has to leave to protect her family from The Shadow Man. Athena thinks when she leaves and do what The Shadow Man says that she maybe, just maybe get his attention off from her friends and her parents because that's why she does it, she sacrifice herself for her friends and for her parents to protect them. And the whole drive to the BAU she reminds herself of that over and over again, she knows that her decision will probably have consequences but she is willing to take it.

But in that moment as Athena decides to take the risk and leave, she didn't know what the extent of her consequences would be.

(BAU)

Athena walks out of the elevator of the BAU and is immediately met with Emily who is waiting for her.

"Are you really sure you want to do this?" Emily asked her in a lower voice before she looks around to make sure that no one is listening in their conversation.

"Yes, I have to do this." Athena told Emily before she grabs into her purse and hands the letter she wrote for Penelope to Emily.

Emily looks at Athena before she takes the letter from her.

Emily and Athena then make their way to Penelope's lair but before Emily goes inside she turns to Athena and hugs her.

"Please be careful and if you can keep me updated." Emily says. "Or if you need help just call me yeah."

Athena hugs her back and she tights her grip around Emily a little, knowing that this is probably their last hug for a long time and that this is probably also the last time they see each other.

"I will," Athena says before she breaks the hug and looks at Emily "You should probably go and give the letter to Penelope."

Emily gives her a nod before she turns around and walks inside Penelope's lair.

Athena is about to walk away but she then decides to stay and listen to the conversation that will happen between Emily and Penelope.

Athena moves closer to the door of Penelope's lair and hears Emily and Penelope talking inside.

"Hey, Penelope I need to talk to you." Athena hears Emily saying.

"Good morning Emily." Penelope said as she turns to Emily. "Have you seen Athena because she didn't check in?"

"That is way I come and want to talk to you." Emily says as she hands Penelope the letter. "Athena told me to give this to you."

Penelope has a confused look on her face before she takes the letter and begins to read it. Emily can see how the expression on Penelope's face changes, and how tears begin to form in her eyes as she reads the letter.

Penelope looks back up at Emily with tears slowly rolling down her cheeks. "No...she...she would never...that...that doesn't sound like Athena." Penelope says with a shaking voice.

"I am so sorry Penelope." Emily says as she gives Penelope an apologizing look.

Athena has tears in her eyes as she listens into their conversation and hears Penelope crying. She then decides it's time to go.

Athena walks away from Penelope's lair until she arrives at her desk, she looks around and sees Derek,JJ and Spencer talking together by Spencer's desk. Athena's eyes then move to where Hotch and Rossi's offices are and she looks at them, Athena takes one last look at all of her friends with tears in her eyes before she makes her way with out anyone noticing her to the elevator and leaves.

When Athena arrives back home, she takes a deep breath and just let her tears run down her face freely, not being able to hold them back any longer. But the moment is broken when her phone starts ringing, Athena close her eyes before she moves her phone to her ear.

"Is it done?" The Shadow Man asked her.

"Yes," Athena says while her tears still run down her face freely.

"Ask me your question." He says in a cold voice

"There's only one, I care about now." Athena says in an emotionless voice.

"You wanna know who I am. Well, there's a package by your front door, you'll find your answers in there." He told her.

Athena immediately stands up and walks to her front door and opens it to see a package with her name on it.

"Do you see it?" The Shadow Man asked her.

"Yes." Athena says as she takes the package before going back inside.

"It's the answer to your question." He told her. Athena then opens it to see a letter in it.

"Read it, then you know." He asked her in a kinda soft tone before the call ends.

Athena puts her phone away before she takes the letter out of the package and then begins to read the letter.

In all of us lives a dark side and a good side, it's our choice which one we choose but at some point, all of us are forced to face the truth, ourselves. And nothing speaks louder than the truth.

Athena reads that quote over and over again, she knows she heard it from somewhere and it feels familiar but she just can't put her finger on it from where she knows it.

An hour later her phone rings again and she sees it's unknown so she takes her phone and accepts the call.

"I wasn't sure if you would call again." Athena says as she suddenly gets a bad feeling.

"There's one piece of unfinished business," The Shadow man told her in a serious voice. "The fact that you've been telling Agent Prentiss about our chats."

Athena froze in place as he says that and she now gets the feeling that everything will get more worse than it already is.

"Athena, I told you I've been watching you." He says as he's voice now sounds more dangerous. "You broke the rules. And now one of your loved ones will pay."

"Please, don't hurt them." Athena pleaded.

"Then give me another name. Right now." He told her.

"What?" Athena says, while she is not sure if she is capable of doing it.

"If you wanna save them, give me another name, the name of someone guilty. Come on, Athena. One little name." He told her as his voice now sounds more colder.

"I won't, I can't do that." Athena says not wanting to do it.

"Then I'll kill your team, and your mother, and your father, and everyone you hold dear."

When he said that, something suddenly changed in Athena.

"If you come near them, I will end you." Athena says in a kinder angry but also cold voice.

"Then give me a name." He says as he pushed her more to say a name and his voice sounds more dangerously.

"Peter Jones." Athena says in a cold voice as she finally gives in and says a name.

"I told you, we were the same." The Shadow Man says before the call ends.
