The morning sun streamed through the windows, casting a warm glow over the living room as everyone gathered for breakfast. The house was buzzing with activity in preparation for the wedding.
Jeonghan and Wonwoo’s family had arrived the previous night, including their little cousin, Hyunjin.Hyunjin, a bright-eyed and energetic five-year-old, had immediately taken a liking to Wonwoo. The boy’s boundless energy and infectious laughter filled the room as he trailed after Wonwoo, who happily entertained his young relative.
Mingyu, watching from the sidelines, couldn’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy every time Hyunjin tugged on Wonwoo’s sleeve or demanded his attention.“Hyung, can you play with me?”
Hyunjin asked, his big eyes looking up at Wonwoo expectantly.Wonwoo smiled and ruffled the boy’s hair. “Of course, Hyunjin. What do you want to play?”As they moved to the backyard to kick a ball around, Mingyu followed, trying to hide his growing irritation.
He knew it was silly to be jealous of a child, but he couldn’t help feeling sidelined. Every time he tried to get close to Wonwoo, Hyunjin seemed to pop up, demanding Wonwoo’s attention.
In the backyard, Hyunjin kicked the ball to Wonwoo, who laughed as he kicked it back. Mingyu stood off to the side, his arms crossed, watching with a frown. Every time Wonwoo’s attention was solely on Hyunjin, Mingyu’s jealousy flared a little more.Unable to take it any longer, Mingyu called out, “Wonwoo, can you come here for a sec?”Wonwoo turned, smiling brightly. “Sure, Mingyu. Hyunjin, I’ll be right back, okay?”Hyunjin pouted but nodded. “Okay, but hurry back!”
Wonwoo walked over to Mingyu, who suddenly trapped Wonwoo in his arms, holding him close. “Stay with me for a bit,” Mingyu murmured, his voice low and possessive.Wonwoo laughed, his eyes sparkling with amusement. “You’re being silly, Mingyu. Hyunjin needs me right now.” He playfully pushed Mingyu off him and ran back to Hyunjin, teasing, “Catch me if you can!”
Mingyu groaned softly, feeling both frustrated and charmed by Wonwoo’s playful nature. He watched as Wonwoo rejoined Hyunjin, his laughter echoing through the yard.Jeonghan and Seungcheol, who had been watching the exchange, shared a knowing look. Jeonghan smirked and called out to Mingyu, “Having trouble keeping up, huh?”Mingyu sighed and walked over to join them. “You have no idea. That kid’s got more energy than I do.”
Seungcheol patted Mingyu on the back. “Don’t worry, you’ll get your time with Wonwoo soon enough.”As the day went on, Mingyu’s jealousy didn’t go unnoticed. Jeonghan and Seungcheol decided to intervene. They called Hyunjin over and started playing a different game with him, giving Mingyu and Wonwoo some space.Seizing the opportunity, Mingyu took Wonwoo’s hand and led him to a quiet corner of the backyard. “Finally, some alone time,” Mingyu said, his voice laced with relief.Wonwoo smiled and leaned against him. “You know, it’s kind of cute seeing you get jealous over a little kid.”Mingyu groaned. “It’s embarrassing. I know it’s irrational, but I can’t help it.”
Wonwoo laughed softly and wrapped his arms around Mingyu. “Well, I find it endearing. It shows how much you care.”Mingyu tightened his hold on Wonwoo, his voice softening. “I do care. A lot.”Their moment was interrupted by Seungcheol’s voice from behind them. “Caught you!”
Startled, they turned to see Seungcheol and Jeonghan watching them with amused expressions. Seungcheol wagged a finger at Mingyu. “You just can’t keep your hands off Wonwoo, can you?”Wonwoo flushed, but Mingyu just laughed. “You got us. Guilty as charged.”
Jeonghan smirked and crossed his arms. “Well, if you two lovebirds are done, we could use some help inside.”Reluctantly, Mingyu and Wonwoo followed them back into the house, but not before Mingyu stole one more quick kiss. The rest of the day was a blur of wedding preparations, family chatter, and laughter.Later that evening, as the sun began to set, the family gathered around a bonfire in the backyard.
The warm glow of the firelight illuminated their faces, and the sound of laughter filled the air. Mingyu sat close to Wonwoo, their hands intertwined, feeling content and happy.Hyunjin, who had been reenergized after a nap, ran over to Wonwoo and climbed onto his lap.
“Wonwoo hyung, can I give you a kiss?” the boy asked innocently.Wonwoo chuckled and nodded. “Of course, Hyunjin.”Hyunjin planted a sweet kiss on Wonwoo’s cheek. Mingyu’s jaw dropped, and he stared in disbelief. “Hey, that’s my job!” he protested, half-joking, half-serious.
Everyone around the fire burst into laughter at Mingyu’s flabbergasted expression. Hyunjin, not understanding the humor, just smiled and hugged Wonwoo tightly. “I love you, hyung!”Wonwoo hugged the boy back, his heart swelling with affection. “I love you too, Hyunjin.”
Jeonghan leaned over to Seungcheol and whispered, “I think Mingyu’s got some serious competition.”Seungcheol grinned. “Yeah, and it’s adorable.”As the night wore on and the stars filled the sky, Mingyu and Wonwoo found a quiet moment to themselves. Mingyu looked into Wonwoo’s eyes, his voice soft and sincere. “I want you to know how much I love you. And how much I look forward to our future together.”Wonwoo’s eyes sparkled with emotion as he replied, “I love you too, Mingyu. More than words can say.”
With a final, tender kiss, they settled back against each other, enjoying the warmth of the fire and the comfort of each other’s presence. The future was bright, and they knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together, hand in hand.
