Jeonghan had decided to spend the afternoon working on wedding decorations at his house, inviting Mingyu to help. Mingyu eagerly agreed, seeing it as another chance to be around Wonwoo.
The living room was filled with various decorations: ribbons, flowers, and string lights. Jeonghan was sorting through everything while Mingyu and Wonwoo worked on hanging some of the decorations.
"Wonwoo, can you hand me the tape?" Jeonghan asked, glancing over his shoulder.
"Sure," Wonwoo replied, passing the tape to his brother before climbing onto a stool to reach the higher spots.
Mingyu, who was busy untangling a string of lights, couldn’t help but steal glances at Wonwoo. "You need any help up there?"
"I’m fine," Wonwoo said curtly, focusing on attaching the decorations.
Jeonghan smiled, noticing Mingyu’s eagerness. "Mingyu, can you help me with these flowers? We need to figure out how to arrange them."
"Of course," Mingyu replied, though his attention was still on Wonwoo.
As the afternoon went on, the decorations started coming together beautifully. Wonwoo was reaching to hang a particularly stubborn garland when the stool wobbled beneath him.
"Careful, Wonwoo!" Jeonghan called out, but it was too late. The stool tipped, and Wonwoo started to fall.
In an instant, Mingyu was there. He moved quickly, catching Wonwoo just before he hit the ground. "Got you," Mingyu said with a grin.
Wonwoo's eyes widened, his heart racing from the near fall and the sudden closeness. "Uh, thanks," he muttered, trying to steady himself.
Mingyu didn't let go immediately, holding Wonwoo a moment longer than necessary. "You okay?"
Wonwoo nodded, pulling away. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just need to be more careful."
Jeonghan walked over, smirking. "Nice catch, Mingyu."
Mingyu shrugged, still smiling at Wonwoo. "Just glad I was here to help."
Wonwoo took a deep breath, trying to ignore the fluttering feeling in his chest. "Let's just get back to work."
As they resumed decorating, Mingyu found more opportunities to interact with Wonwoo, offering to pass him decorations and making small talk.
"You know, these lights would look great draped along the ceiling," Mingyu suggested.
Wonwoo glanced at the lights. "I guess so. We’ll need another stool, though."
Mingyu grabbed another stool and set it up next to Wonwoo. "I’ll hold it steady this time. Don’t want you falling again."
Wonwoo rolled his eyes but couldn’t help but smile a little. "Thanks."
As they worked together, Jeonghan watched with amusement. "You two make a good team."
Wonwoo shot him a look. "We’re just decorating."
Jeonghan chuckled. "Sure, just decorating."
By the end of the day, the living room was beautifully decorated, and Wonwoo’s initial irritation had softened a bit. Mingyu’s persistence, coupled with his genuine concern, was starting to get through.
As they packed up, Jeonghan pulled Mingyu aside. "Thanks for all your help today."
"No problem," Mingyu replied, glancing at Wonwoo. "It was fun."
Jeonghan smiled. "I think you’re starting to grow on him."
Mingyu laughed. "Let’s hope so."
As they said their goodbyes, Wonwoo hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Thanks for catching me today, Mingyu."
Mingyu grinned. "Anytime, Wonwoo. Anytime."
As he walked away, Wonwoo couldn’t help but think that maybe Mingyu wasn’t so bad after all.
