Chapter ten

School was becoming more and more of a nightmare and the threatening letters never stopped, it's incredible how people never run out of insults. I honestly didn't care at all, I came in there, tried to get through the day then head out to work or the hospital.

Speaking of which, I have to see Miguel today, he got out of surgery yesterday and I want to know how he's doing. I also hope that the money we collected on the car wash helped diminish Carmen's dept, even if it was given under Cobra Kai's name. Sam was infuriated by it, and she was right to be of course, but honestly I didn't care who's name it was under, all that matters is that it helped him get better.

Stealing the money was not the end of Cobra Kai's acts, they beated the shit out of Nate and kept teasing and bullying the Miyagi do students each time the occasion presented itself. Strangely, I never was their target. At first I thought it was because they targeted the Miyagi do students and technically I wasn't one of them. But Sam thinks it was more because of my past friendship with Hawk.

«I mean.» She says with a mouth full of salad. «You guys used to be so close... Wouldn't suprise me if he was protecting you.»

«I don't know, it seems unlikely.» I think back of the last time we spoke to each other in the hospital. «Last time we talked we acted like nothing happened, but was just for Miguel's sake. We didn't want him to know about what's happening out here.» there was nothing genuine about that moment, we were both just acting.

«Still.» Sam insists. «Maybe he misses you and he really liked when you guys got along that day, even if it wasn't real.»

«That would mean he's an hypocrite.» I raise an eyebrow.

«He is.» She deadpans. «He always was. And honestly if you want my opinion, I think that staying away from this jackass was the best decision you made.» I laugh at the irritation in her voice. Sam and Hawk loath each other, he hates her because of what she did to Miguel and she hates him because he's... Hawk.

As if on cue, a sound of explosion followed by assholes' laughter is heard on the cafeteria. Demetri's shocked face is looking in disbelief at his science project who was now in pieces, it took him three weeks to build it and he was confident it would help him impress Yasmine.

And to nobody's suprise, hawk makes his way to him and takes his soccer ball from the middle of the mess of Legos, and leaves to laugh it off with his friends but not after saying something to piss Demetri off even more.

When we see the frustrated boy follow after his ex best friend, we immediately get up from our table and move to stand beside him.

«You landed one kick, you got lucky.» we hear hawk say.

«You better back off.» I retort, my tone low and icy.

«Or you won't be lucky.» Sam folds her arms on her chest and glares at him.

Hawk scoffs then he looks at something behind us before his eyes suddenly shine with mischief, sending alarm bells blowing in my head. «Yeah, like you'll start anything princess.» he smirks while looking down at her. And at that moment I notice counselor Blatt making her way around the cafeteria and my eyes widen. «Actually, why don't you go sleep around with someone new and break his heart?»

My warning comes too late, and Hawk's friends help him up after he was shoved by Sam.

«What's going on here Miss Larusso?» Counsellor Blatt's annoying voice interrupts them. «You know our new guidelines against physical contact.» I roll my eyes, as if that was going to work. «Did she enter your personal bubble without your verbal consent?» she asks Hawk softly, as if he was an injured little puppy.
