On the road, Lucas was driving at an insanely fast pace, and I began to panic. I'm only 19, still so young, and here I was with a handsome stranger, in a car that felt like it could crash at any moment. Sensing my fear, Lucas glanced over and started laughing. "Are you scared ?" he teased.
"Of course not," I replied, trying to keep my voice steady, "But I really don't want to end up in a car accident today." His laughter filled the car, and for a moment, I wished I could record it and use it as my morning alarm it was that beautiful. Mercifully, he eased off the gas, slowing down to a more reasonable speed.
Suddenly, a white BMW appeared beside us, speeding up as it matched our pace. The driver rolled down his window and shouted, "Come on, man! Let's see who gets home first. Loser buys dinner!"
Lucas rolled his eyes but couldn't suppress a grin as he rolled down his own window. "Not today, man. I've got other things to take care of," he shouted back. The white BMW revved its engine and sped off, disappearing from sight.
"That was my roommate, Ethan," Lucas explained with a chuckle. "He's just a bit crazy." I smiled softly, appreciating the glimpse into his world.
We finally arrived at my house. "Thank you, Lucas," I said, genuinely grateful.
"Anytime, pretty girl," he replied with a wink. As I stepped out of the car, he continued to watch me until I safely entered my home, and only then did he drive away.
"Mum, I'm home! I'm going to take a nap!" I called out as I made my way upstairs. Once in my room, I collapsed onto my bed, letting my mind wander. I began to daydream about the possibility of a love story between Lucas and me.
You see, I've always been obsessed with love stories. I devour drama series and romance novels like they're the air I breathe. One of my all-time favorite Wattpad stories is His Drama Queen. I'm literally obsessed with it. I've always yearned for a love like the ones I see in movies and read about in books. But every time I've had a boyfriend, reality never seemed to match up to my fantasies. Instead of romantic gestures and sweet words, I got heartbreak, shouting matches, and a complete lack of the romance I craved.
But over time, I realized something important. Even in movies and books, relationships have their ups and downs. They show the fights, the misunderstandings, the moments when things break whether it's a vase during an argument or a heart after a harsh word. But as viewers and readers, we tend to focus only on the happy moments and the fairytale endings, overlooking the struggles that are also part of love. Real life, it turns out, isn't so different from the stories I love. We just have to remember to see both sides
