Chapter 2

Ayesha POV
It was a rainy day in Charlotte, and I was waiting on my dad to come pick me up for youth group. We went to church every Wednesday and Sunday. I was talking to my friend Brittany. She was telling me all who was there. I just moved here a month ago and I met Brittany at my church. School was almost getting ready to start again and I would be going to her school. I was nervous but then again not because I know she would be there with me. I would be a sophomore in college so I was excited. I heard a car hunk which means that was my dad outside telling me to come on. I got and put my hoodie on and walked to the car. I got in to my dad smiling.
Dad: Hey babygirl.
I shut the door and he pulled off.
Me: Hey dad.
Dad: How was your day?
Me: It was ok, bitter sweet.
Dad: Why you say that?
Me: Because it's my last week of summer and then next week I'll be back at school.
He chuckled.
Dad: Well, you got two more years and then you're done with school.
Me: Yeah, but is mom already there?
He nodded his head.
Dad: Yeah she's greeting some new members today.
Me: Oh.
Dad:Yep.
Me: Oh! That's what I wanted to ask you. You see since it's the last week of being free.
He chuckled.
Me: I wanted to spend the night at Britt's for the last summer weekend.
Dad: You'll have to ask your mom.
I sighed.
Me: But what if she says no?
Dad: Then I guess it's a no.
I rolled my eyes.
Me: See that's why I ask you stuff cause your on my side.
Dad: You know me and your mother have to agree together on things like that.
Me: Ok.
We pulled up in the parking lot of our church. It wasn't a lot of people there today because it was only member rehearsal today. But I guess some new people decided on showing up today.
We got out the car and ran to the entrance since it was raining. I opened the door and let my dad in and I went in. I took my jacket off and looked around for Brittany. I walked up to my mom.
Me: Hey mom have you seen Brittany?
Mom: Well hello daughter, how are you today?
I sighed.
Me: My bad, hey mom how've you seen Brittany?
She laughed.
Mom: She's downstairs with the rest of the kids.
Me: Ok, thanks.
I started to walk towards the stairs when she called my name. I turned back around and walked toward her and the lady that she was by.
Me: Yes?
Mom: This is Mrs. Sonya, she is a new member of this church.
I looked at Mrs. Sonya and smiled.
Me: Hello, my name is Ayesha. Nice to meet you.
She smiled.
Mrs. Sonya: Nice to meet you too young lady, you are so pretty.
I cheesed hard.
Me: Thank you, you are too.
She smiled.
Mrs. Sonya: Thank you Ayesha.
Mom: Ok, go down there with the kids and listen to Sister nina.
I nodded my head and walked downstairs to see Brittany sitting at a table with two guys that looked our age. I walked towards Brittany and smiled. She got up and gave me a hug. I pulled in a chair to sat by her.
Brittany: Ayesha, this is Stephen and his brother Seth. Seth and Stephen this is Ayesha.
I smiled. They were both cute but Seth looked a little young.
Seth: Hi Ayesha.
Stephen: What's going on Ayesha?
Me: Hey, I see this your first time here.
Stephen: Yeah, our other church moved way out.
I nodded my head.
Me: Oh, ok.
Seth: So where are you from Ayesha?
I turned towards him and smiled.
Me: Toronto, Canada.
They looked shocked.
Stephen: Really?
Me: Yeah, we moved a month ago.
Seth: Oh.
Brittany: She's going to our school too.
Stephen: Your going to Davidson?
I nodded and smiled.
Stephen: Ok, I see you.
I chuckled while he smiled at me.
" Ok y'all free time is over, pull y'all chairs over here so we can get started."
Everyone sighed and started pulling their chairs over to the front of the room where Sister Nina was.
•••••• 2 hours later••••••
"Yea he was definitely making goggly eyes at you".
I laughed.
Me:Whatever Britt, he did not.
Me and Brittany have been talking ever since we got outta church. We kinda did this often. We would talk about church, school, boys, and our plans that we would make.
"Brittany you need to come do the dishes."
I heard someone say in the background. She sighed.
"Ayesha I'll call you tomorrow".
I chuckled.
Me: Ok, bye.
"Bye".
I hung up and went over to my window seat. I looked out the window up into the sky, looking at the stars. I smiled. No matter what I remember one thing my grandmother used to tell me. "Look into the stars at night time, that's where all the lost ones are. Watching over us, and the North Star? That's the big man himself Jesus. He's in charge and counting the days till you'll be up there." I sighed. The reason we moved was because my grandmother died and she left us her house in Charlotte. I was planning to stay in Canada and go to a college there, but I had no choice but to apply for Davidson. I got up and got all my stuff ready to take a shower.
Stephen POV
It was late and I was outside playing a little Basketball with my little brother.
Seth: Can we take a little break now?
I chuckled.
Me: Yeah.
We walked over by the bench and drank some of our water.
Seth: So you see that girl Ayesha?
Me: Yeah.
I said taking a drink of my water.
Seth: She was way to shy for me.
I chuckled.
Me: I thought he was cool.
Seth: She would be if she talked more.
Me: She don't even know us.
Seth: Ok, but if she talked to us she would know us more.
I chuckled.
Me: It doesn't work like that all the time Seth.
He frowned.
Seth: Whatever but her friend was cool.
I frowned.
Me: Nah, not really. She kind of talks too much.
He laughed.
Seth: But she cute so it don't matter.
I laughed.
Me: Aye boy, let's go.
We walked back on the court and started the game up again. For some reason I couldn't wait till Sunday because I would hopefully see her again.
