Someone tell me why I've literally become obsessed with this ship lately- also this is based in the past duh
"Nori? That's a cute name" The worker teased, unable to resist shooting his shot while writing the name down. Nori didn't say anything back, she was still in a trance from everything earlier- half of her memories were blank- but the little she remembered wasn't exactly pleasant.
The explosion, Yeva pulling her out of the rubble, other workers coming to help them. That one really handsome drone who she bumped into on her way here...she remembered his face very clearly... did he say his name was Caleb? Callum? Kai? Something with a 'K' sound at the beginning.
It had been about 2 days since then, and now Nori was attempting to become a citizen of the new "city" most of the drones were trying to create. It was reusing the old human buildings but adapting them to be a fitter for drones. Several new places were also being built since there was around 3x as many workers drones as they were ever humans.
"Alright Miss Nori, we'll see about getting you an apartment- in the meantime take a look around!" The registering drone exclaimed, clearly ecstatic about the new resident. Nori nodded and walked through the large mechanical door into the city square.
It wasn't exactly a fancy looking place, most of the buildings were barely holding up thanks to the explosion and everything was stained in thick black dust. Still, it was better than wandering in the cold forest again.
Not far from here was the training camp- a place Nori actually knew decently well. She'd been there as a young auto program before...something took her out of there.
She could vaguely remember a human assessing her, a ponytailed drone calling her a monster, and a creepy robotic voice in her ear.
"You lost?"
Nori turned around slowly, not keen to talk to anyone right now, her constant quiet growling making a point to get louder as the footsteps got clearer from behind.
However the growl turned into more of a surprised meow after taking in who it was. The white eyes, the jacket, the weird moustache he'd given himself for some reason....
It was the hunk from two days ago.
Said hunk blushed a little at the realisation it was the girl from the forest. He didn't get the chance to hear her name when bumping into her and her 'sister', but he found himself kinda entranced by her unique style. It was rare worker drones were 'gothic'.
"Bite me. I'm fine" Nori snarled, though internally she was yelling at herself to be nice. "Oh..okay, well I'm Khan" the hunk softly replied, seeming a little let down by Nori's attitude. As much as she wanted to get away from him, Nori couldn't deny how her core sped up when Khan said his name. For some reason she found it kinda hot...
Grumbling, Nori decided to be fair "I'm Nori, I was thinking of heading back towards the camp".
Instantly Khan perked up, smiling in a soft way that made Nori blush. Though she also decided in that moment she'd do whatever it took to get him to do it again. "Nori! Nice name, I was planning on heading there too, a friend of mine wants to do a 'victory photo', he's a bit goofy" Khan explained, arms crossed as he laughed away his nerves.
Nori sighed. He was adorable...way out of her league though. Khan was already wearing a badge of status, which meant he was a valued drone, useful to the growing colony and probably important to the humans when they were around.
