When Jasmin turned 12, her parents decided to move. The car ride there was silent. Jasmin tried talking to her parents but they always just replied with, "Okay." and, "Mhm..". It felt as though they had something on their minds, a secret.
"When are we almost there? It's been 3 hours and I have to pee", Jasmin said impatiently. She didn't actually have to go pee, but if they went to a gas station she'd get a blue raspberry slushie, a bag of pistachios, and a pack of gum. "We need gas anyways, so I'll look for a nearby gas station", her mom replied, a bit annoyed.
While Jasmin's mom was filling up the gas tank, her dad came with her to the gas station. It was around 9 o'clock, so it wasn't late and a few people were there.

She got what she wanted and her dad paid for it, they exited the gas station and walked back to the car. The entire time they were there Jasmin felt like she was being watched. They got back into the car, but her dad was driving instead to take turns.
Jasmin put her headphones on and started to listen to music. She fell asleep after a little but what felt like 2 hours later she heard a thud. "What happened?" Jasmin groaned, rubbing her eyes while still half asleep. "Oh nothing, it was just a bump.", her dad said quickly. She could tell he was lying, but she didn't know why. It felt like the car hit something.
She tried looking to see what it was but it was dark so all she could see was a black silhouette. It just looked like a blob. She pretended to go to sleep just to listen to what her parents would say. "You're a horrible liar", her mom said. "Well what else was I supposed to say?", her dad replied. They started bickering about something but they never said what he hit.

Jasmin decided to just go on her phone and watch a show for another hour until they arrived. She noticed they were in a neighborhood about 45 minutes later. It looked abandoned. Except for this one house. The lawn was bright green and there were rose bushes with thorns so sharp you would bleed if you touched them. The house didn't fit in with the rest. The car stopped and parked in the driveway of the nice house. "This is our new home! What do you think, Jasmin?", her mom said. "I love it, but why are the rest of the houses abandoned?", Jasmin questioned. "What do you mean? None are abandoned, they're all very nice.", her dad replied. Jasmin was perplexed since all of them had broken windows, moss, and mold everywhere, and the roofs were falling apart. She brushed it off thinking she must be seeing things since it was late at night and she could barely see.

They entered the house. It was empty and big. It had 2 floors, an attic, and a basement. It had some furniture, but only a few. The living room was empty, but the kitchen had a counter, stove, and fridge. The rooms were empty too. The bathroom had everything it should have. The only furniture that was there was necessities. Jasmin looked around the house. "Where will I sleep?", she asked her parents. "Sleeping bag", her dad told her. Jasmin sighed and complained. "Do I have to?" Jasmin asked. "The only other option is sleeping on the floor and do you want that?", her mom replied, annoyed.
"Ughhhhh, fine!" Jasmin said obnoxiously. Her dad scoffed at her bratty attitude. Jasmin went to her room and put down her sleeping bag. She layed in it and complained to herself. "The room is cold, the sleeping bag's lumpy, the blanket's itchy, the pillow is flat, and the floor is peeling off!", Jasmin thought to herself. She fell asleep a little later.
